As many posters have alluded to, we have struggled in some big situations at the plate this year. I think a lot of it has to do with LSU probably having the best 1-4 lineup in the country. Problem is after that, PM generally has some combo of Watson, Slaughter, and Smith coming to the plate all in a row. 3 potentially great hitters, but all freshmen. All have had some awful at bats with the bases loaded. With how good the top of our lineup is, they will be coming to the plate a ton with multiple runners on. Think it would help to have a veteran mixed in the 5,6,7 spots to breakup the freshmen a little. Think we can all agree the DH spot will usually be either Beau Jordan, Romero, or Reid. So if it were me, I'd adjust the lineup as so:
1 Kramer
2 Freeman
3 Duplantis
4 Deichmann
5 Slaughter
6 Jordan/Romero/Reid
7 Watson
8 Pap/Coomes
9 Smith

Another positive of this, would be to hopefully allow Smith to see better pitches. He has struggled a ton at the plate. Hitting lots of flyballs.

I'd move Watson up.

Pap not being 9th = bad lineup

You could swap he and slaughter, but i have a feeling he will cool off similar to how slaughter has

There is alot of historical data that would suggest your worst hitter bat 8th, but its marginally close

I'm sure PM will get right on this.

i would prefer him hitting 8th, then a speed guy/decent hitter in the 9 hole...

I would put Freeman at leadoff, Dup second and KR in the 3 hole. But, our 1-4, like you said, might be the best in the country right now, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

ETA: Smith or Watson in the 9 hole would be my choice because they're freshman and you know they'll see good pitches with the top of the lineup right behind them.

I think we are on the same page, I considered Watson at 9 too, but he is hitting too well at the moment. And I, like you, think Freeman should be back at leadoff, but the way they are swinging it right now, its hard to change that order.

I know he's a young Buk...but establish, Watson is not a clutch hitter by no stretch. The strikeout against UNO and the early strikeout last night with bases loaded/one out...set him back imo. If he cracks the late season lineup, I'd have him hitting 8 hole.

Disagree. Freeman is the perfect 2 hole hitter, great bunter, great contact/ hit and run guy. Doesn't hit many fly balls, so he moves runners over well. Hence hitting in the 2 hole.
Kramer is probably your best hitter so having him lead off guarantees him the most at bats, and they can't pitch around him, nobody wants to walk the lead off hitter.
Now with the table set, duplantasis is seeing better pitches because deichman is on deck and krob or freeman are moving around or stealing bases.

I like Freeman leading off and Duplantis is flourishing in the 3 hole

These threads are always fun. I wonder who people will call to bench or move down in the order this year that will end up going on a run. I guess Duplantis shut everyone up last night about him

Pretty sure i didnt bash duplantis when he was struggling. So you disagree with my suggestion?

You are probably correct. They will most likely continue scoring double digits runs against georgia level pitching each weekend

I would move Dups or Watson behind Deichmann to protect him instead of slaughter and put slaughter in the 2 hole, freeman leadoff and k-rob 3rd or vice versa

Don't tinker with #1 through #4 now. They are in perfect order, IMO. Freeman, our best bunter, needs to be at #2.

And Lange will give up 7 each weekend. Let's bench him.
