Ok even if LSU isnt as good of a Job as those, THOSE JOBS DONT HAVE AN OPENING! Florida has their man and Texas is going to let their coach have a few more year.

You need to start from the premise that LSU IS NOT as good as those jobs. Only once you get there can you properly set the expectations of who you could get to come here. If Florida is hiring Colorado State's coach and Texas is getting Charlie Strong, LSU is likely going to do worse than that or get someone relatively unproven (unless Jimbo is lined up like is speculated). Frankly, I'd roll the dice and see what can be done if Miles doesn't have a winning record the rest of the season.

Yes the state only has approximately 4M people however it so happens to per capita produce the most NFL players.

I see this thrown around a lot.

American samao actually has the most players per capita. And crushed LA. Know why? Their island has 44k people.

So tell me, does per capita really mean you have more talent? No it doesn't.

So let's get this pumper logic straight...

We can't fire this "great" coach who came here, because a great coach won't come here.

Because the OP made that argument. LSU doesn't have an opening, so why are we arguing it? See how stupid that line of thinking is?

No they don't. Florida has 19 million people for crying out loud. This is laughable.

Oh really? When's the last time Florida came into Louisiana and pulled a top flight prospect? Now, when's the last time LSU has done that? Plus no FSU & Mia to compete with. I'd say that's a significant advantage. Not to mention we've owned Texas the last few years and that has alot to do with our close proximity. Are you really arguing who has the better recruiting advantage?

It depends on the money, it ALWAYS depends on the money. All these other issues are secondary for the most part.

AU is on the Alabama/Georgia line and they both compete for the same recruits annually. Just saying.

OK and UT, Tamu, ole Miss, state, Bama, Auburn , Miami, FSU, ou, USC, ND all come recruit LA.

What's your point?

Seeing a lot of that from the old timers here

You'd think they want LSU to be a perennial 9-10 win team

Bunch of idiots up in here. How much is Gary patterson making at TCU? 3.5 mill

Les Miles is making around 1 Million a year more, I guarantee Patterson would be more than willing to listen to an offer from LSU.

My point is that UGA and AU are basically in state competition. None of the schools you listed come into LA and hand pick talent, save Bama, and that's even a stretch. For the most part, LSU lands the LA kids it wants.

5 for 5 ring a bell?

Therick and I are owning you pumpers in this thread. Take off your purple and gold glasses for once and realize LSU isn't the end all b all.

They are only disagreeing with me because they think I want to keep Miles. That's the funny and sad part about this. Nothing I've said in this thread is remotely in dispute or controversial.

Florida JUST frickING HAD AN OPENING. Texas very well could have one this year or next. This isn't difficult to understand. Neither school got its first choice.

What in the actual frick? Texas was and had been in the dumpster for year due to Mack Brown which is why no one wanted step in and start a complete rebuild. Florida was in the exact same boat once Meyer left town are was already on the decline. Heart condition my arse, Meyer stepped down because the writing was on the wall. I agree that LSU is head and shoulders a better job than Texas and Florida right now.
Jobs that are better than LSU -
Ohio St - literally no competition at all save a few games a year, unlimited money, tradition, national brand
Michigan - same as above
Bama - no explanation needed

That's about it. Notre Dame cant recruit like we do, USC is too far gone to not be a complete rebuild and the PAC 12 is on the rise in competition and Oklahoma isnt on LSU's level. There is no other SEC team that can compete with LSU as well.
