USC just settled for an interim coach with 8 games of experience to take over their program………………..but we're going to get a guy two years removed from the title, coming off a 9 win season, with the #3 incoming recruiting class whose already making $4.3M a year.

South Carolina, Miami, Missouri, Virginia, Maryland, and Syracuse all have head coach openings……………….but Mark Richt is going to come to LSU to demote himself to coordinator under of all people Les Miles.

Unbelievable…

Miami it is

mark Richt actually sounded to me like he was promoting himself for the LSU job. He mentioned wanted to coach QB's and call the offensive plays, take a hint. This is exactly what LSU needs and he sounded like that is what he wants to do. Either that or come to Alabama if Kiffin takes a job somewhere else. I guess we will see. I think Richt is probably great with the kids and he is a fine man so he should remain in coaching on some level in my opinion. He is too young to do nothing.

Again that is pretty delusional. He's in the top 15 in the country in terms of successful head coaches. I took the hint that he wanted to call plays again like the below list of head coaches who did so this year.

Rich Rodriguez (Arizona)
Todd Graham (Arizona State) (D)
Scott Satterfield (Appalachian State)
Gus Malzahn (Auburn)
Dino Babers (Bowling Green)
Bronco Mendenhall (BYU) (D)
Mike Bobo (Colorado State)
Ron Turner (Florida International)
Jimbo Fisher (Florida State)
Paul Johnson (Georgia Tech)*
Norm Chow (Hawaii)
Todd Berry (Louisiana-Monroe)
Skip Holtz (Louisiana Tech)
Bobby Petrino (Louisville)
Mark Whipple (UMass)*
Chuck Martin (Miami OH)
Hugh Freeze (Ole Miss)
Dan Mullen (Mississippi State)
Doug Martin (New Mexico State)*
Brian Kelly (Notre Dame)
Rocky Long (San Diego State) (D)*
Chad Morris (SMU)
Steve Spurrier (South Carolina)
Willie Taggart (South Florida)
David Shaw (Stanford)
Gary Patterson (TCU) (D)
Kliff Kingsbury (Texas Tech)
Neal Brown (Troy)
Philip Montgomery (Tulsa)
Derek Mason (Vanderbilt) (D)*
Mike Leach (Washington State)*
Dana Holgorsen (West Virginia)*
Jeff Brohm (Western Kentucky)
Paul Chryst (Wisconsin)

How is Les not on this list. He clearly calls all the plays.

If you don't think Jimbo was prepared to come here you are the delusional one

Ok then, so you are aware that he's open to being a head coach, he'll certainly be offered probably multiple head coaching jobs that give him the opportunity to call plays, so why exactly would he take less money and demote himself again?

Coaches very rarely leave successful jobs at major schools of their on volition to make lateral moves. If he wanted to be here, he'd be here. But of course, he ultimately didn't, so he's not.

Wow, you got me if actually said that. I must be wrong. Or maybe you're taking the quote way out of context. Let's check the full quote

"Whether it’s in the role of head coach, coordinator, quarterbacks coach, whatever it is. If in fact I choose to do that I’d be really excited about coaching QBs again and getting in the middle of coaching offensive strategy. Not that I wasn’t in it, but I wasn’t calling it. And I think I’d be more apt to do that again.”

Oh, out of context it its. He's saying he'd be more apt to be more involved in offensive strategy and playing calling than he was at GA be that as head coach, OC, or QB coach. Got it. So I guess my question is why exactly would he take less money and demote himself when he'll get head coaching offers that allow him to be more involved in offensive strategy as he apparently seeks, in particular to come to work for a coach who is notoriously averse to letting his OC set the offensive strategy?

Or perhaps the douchebag school president decided that since he's been fudging about the school being bankrupt that it would look bad on his part to pay so much to buyout a current coach and hire a new coach.

It was done until F King Frickstick started meddling.

That's not completely not plausible. But it seems like some real reporting about this should come out from either Baton Rouge, Tallahassee, or the national news. Till then this is unfounded.

Nobody said that Richt is for sure coming here. Nobody said he wasn't going to be a head coach again. It's simple: Richt said he would be open to being an OC and is looking forward to being in a position to do what OCs do. Since we need an OC, I don't really think it's out of line for people to bring up the possibility of Richt coming here.

I cannot possibly contain my indifference...

Anyway, if true Alexander's involvement would be a major story and that would make it the traditional press. If/When it does I'll believe it, until then I'll remain skeptical. If this is so obvious and everyone knows, why is only one guy reporting it?

It's not out of line or, like, evil or anything. It's just so very unlikely to ever happen for very obvious reason that it comes off as delusional.

Yes it's totally delusional for a fan of a top program like LSU to discuss the possibility of hiring a person as OC who less than 24 hours ago said he'd be open to being an OC.

Yes that is delusion considering in the very same sentence he said he was open to begin a head coach again and he'll likely get interest from every major open head coaching job. It's like the definition of delusional.

You're suggesting they struck out on every top target that was on their short list. I must have missed this.
