the SEC Championship game is irrelevant if we win out this year and don't get in

- Tennessee beat Florida which compromises the integrity of the east standings if Florida somehow gets in with one loss and doesn't play LSU.

- Bama and Tennessee play, if bama wins decidedly there is no reason to believe that Florida has a chance against bama.

- If we beat bama, a&m, ole miss and somehow don't get in the CG, that makes the integrity of the west standings also compromised.

One has to think the playoff committee will see that LSU is the best team in the SEC only losing its two games by a combined 7 points and having a new offensive philosophy and coaching staff since the losses.

They wont. They'll see 2 losses and we'll be out. After the outcry in 2007 I doubt we'll see a 2 loss team in the playoff unless there are just crazy losses for top 1-10 all around.

So we're going to have 2 losses, not play in the SEC championship AND make it into the playoffs?

Give up that pipe dream.

LSU does not have a chance in hell to make the playoff without an SEC championship.

I agree.

Gordy mentioned last night about taking divisional records instaed of conference should game.not get made up.

I said this last week.
Makes most since, should LSU win out and game not get played.

The committee wants to put the best teams in the playoffs. They will certainly consider overlooking the two losses when we crush bama.

A 9-2 LSU who didn't win the SEC is not jumping any 11-1 cr 12-0 conference winner or an 11-1 Louisviile. But I disagree with your title whole-heartedly. Winning the SEC has its own, intrinsic value.

We will also have 9 wins without Florida and the SEC game. Any 11-2 team would probably go ahead of us.

I can't believe our local media are actually backing this idea. Our AD even said it. It's the stupidest idea I've heard.

no team will get into the SEC championship game without playing their full conference schedule. The SEC will never permit that, and rightly so.

It just won't happen, so everyone here needs to let that go.

If LSU and/or Florida is in the mix for their division, the SEC will order the game to be played in Gainesville on Nov. 19, and the SEC will pay the buyout for So. Alabama and Presbyterian.

If both LSU and UF are mathematically eliminated, the game won't be played. Very simple, actually.

And yes, I realize this isn't the ideal solution and we got thoroughly hosed, but it's reality.

It's not stupid at all.
If LSU beats om, ark, bama and am and auburn loses again it absolutely makes sense.

What the frick is wrong with you.

So let's say we beat bama by 24 points and we are left out of the championship game based on a technicality and bama ends up being the eventual sec champ by playing lowly Florida. Are you telling me the playoff committee will overlook the 24 point massacre and put them in ahead of us?

The answer is no, they make their decisions on who they feel is the best teams at the end of the season.

Lol

2-loss SEC champion is in over Louisville and the Ohio State/Michigan loser.

Washington doesn't really matter. They'll get in, but they won't take a spot from the SEC champion.

So many reasons it's stupid. One, how in the frick do you just arbitrarily change the SEC rules in the middle of the season. 14 schools and SEC office agreed to play under these rules before the season started. Holy frick, can you imagine? "Uh, look here Bama, I know you have a higher winning percentage, but we're going to go ahead and change the rules to who has the best record in the West, K?" fricking stupid. Two, I would assume if you change this rule it would be a permanent change, right? I mean why fix something that is broke and then do away with it. Problem is, it ain't the right fix. What if next year LSU-Ole Miss gets cancelled? And Bama finishes 5-1 in the West (losing to LSU), and LSU finishes 4-1? Oh shite, same fricking problem as last year. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Make a fricking amendment to the rules based upon a scenario that's never happened or obviously thought of prior to making the rules.
It's not far fetched nor is it unfair.
How can another team be butthurt about a scenario playing out whereas you LOST the heads up match?

Once again, what the frick is your problem?

Boy would the gumps scream about their one loss. Bet they would get into the playoff over LSU.
