Good find. Thoughtful, intelligent sports writing is always an unexpected pleasure.

So far Mett has done great, but this was done against inferior opponents. I like what I see so far, but let's revisit this in 3-4 weeks from now.

Mett was sacked 32 times last year and I'm guessing had 50-75 dropped passes by WRs. It's like people completely forget that our OL and WRs completely played like dog crap in every game other than the USCe and Bama games last year.
Frick, if we don't lose multiple LBs during the Florida game last year, we probably beat them. If we attempt one more pass, we beat Bama. Then, we're playing in the SEC CG against Georgia and no one is talking about Mett having a mediocre year last year. He was fine last year.
The difference is our OL and WRs.

I actually heard about them on Monday when listening to the radio. That writer was on, and he covers college football. At the end, he was discussing the publication, saying that it is a venture started by/owned by USA Today and MLB. Pretty good stuff from what I have read and heard so far.

i just remember the receivers having a ton of drops mostly in the beginning of the season which really hurt zach's progress

quote:yep, and a ton of sacks. It reminded of the game that JJ returned in 2011. I think the WRs had something like 7 drops in the first half of that game. And, everyone said that Lee was folding under the pressure of having JJ back in the game.

What's ridiculous at this point is that our WRs still have too many drops this year. Landry is making some incredible catches, but we've had some easy passes dropped too. That just shows how ridiculously accurate Mett has been so far this year.
I can't wait to see how Mett responds at the first sign of big adversity (a terrible INT, pick 6, fumble, or just a massive hit that shakes him). That's really the big unknown for this year so far with him.
