The real issue that holds lsu athletics back is administration.

Alleva has gone cheap on the last basketball AND football hire.
FKing basically destroyed what could've been a great season this year when he overruled Alleva and kept Miles because of aesthetics and politics. The best case scenario is letting miles go at the end of 2015 and actually having a real coaching search.
Lets face reality. LSU athletics will not reach its potential until we have an administration that goes all in on football and basketball. These blue blood programs are blue bloods because of their commitment to pay for PROVEN coaches and their commitment to let coaches go at the right time without regard to aesthetics.

If you arent upset about this hire then you dont care about the success of lsu football.

Also, did someone make you post in this thread? You do realize that if youre not interested in the subject of the op, you dont actually have to click on tbe thread, right?

It's more of a dysfunctional power structure and a culture built on egos and access vs. excellence. Jones was the product of pressure from Brown, Temple and former players.

Again, the whole process was dysfunctional as money types tried to skirt the process by reaching out early then having it leaked. He pulled the plug because some of the BOS were nervous Alleva had no plan B once they realized the Jimbo deal wasn't getting done. Had everyone just waited until the season was over, a more orderly and efficient process could have taken place. But that's not the LSU way.

I really dont understand the rush. Once Jimbo and herman said no it was time for Alleva to earn his salary and actually get a qualified coach. Ed orgeron wouldve still said yes in a month.

Keep in mind that the past two seasons we have made decisions on our HC based off of the A&M game. Think about that.

Obviously there was consensus that O was the one. The job had been open for 2 months, so I'm sure Alleva had a good idea who was interested and who wasn't.

Exactly.
I mean i thought the reason we fired miles was because we realized that to reach our goals in the sec west we needd more than a hc that was a great recruiter and great motivatorn but had questionable game day coaching.
So the answer was to hire a far less successful coach that is a great recruiter and great motivator, but has questionable game day coaching.

Mind blowing.

I refuse to believe the only coaches that would listen to a lsu offer was Jimbo,Herman, and O. I wouldve given the job to Aranda before Orgeron. We couldve locked uo a very promising up and comer and he couldve been a lsu lifer if we showed a monetary commitment to him once he proved himself.

That this is undeniably true is such a horrible look for LSU. I mean, horrible.

Like I already said. If one took a poll of all other top 50 schools where they ranked coaching prospects for HC, O wouldn't have cracked the top 30.............and I'm probably being very kind there.

Seriously. What the frick.

I mean. In case you want to change your position now. (I'm not knocking you.............just having fun in light of the suck)
