The preseason No. 6 ranking is hardly disrespectful - but it's just not right.

I agree but preseason rankings mean nothing. If rather not start the season ranked that high

I agree. Don't want the pressure of being number 1 right out of the gate, and number 1 never finishes the season that way. Just thought the article was nice recognition for our Tigers.

LSU has been very average (maybe below average in the secw) since 2011 in the sec.

I understand their apprehension to put us there. The problems with the offense are so big that a team with a great d, veteran O-line, elite WR's, heisman front runner at RB,18 returning starters, and a junior two year starter at QB aren't talked about nonstop.

Put that situation at Ole Miss, UGA, UF, Ark, amid aTm, they'd be SEC and playoff favorites. everyone knows how enept and out of sink our offense really is.

I used to feel this way as well but in today's polls, if you start off #1 or #2 and you lose, you drop to #4 or #5 and you win a few games and you're right back in it. Or does that only happen to BAMA? Kidding. We benefited from that in 2007. Twice in 1 year.

No doubt that from the standpoint of talent and experience LSU should be number one. I think the six ranking is a bit of a no confidence vote in on the coaches.

LSU underperformed their talent last year. This was mainly due to an inability to get their hearts back in it after losing to Bama and suffering some injuries.

I don't believe the previous couple of years of disappointment was due to underperforming. I think they were simply too inexperienced at QB and defensive line.

I'd have ranked LSU a lot higher, but I can't blame those who didn't. Plus it's better to be ranked out of the top five.

Good article because it ranks LSU as number 1?

Sure I like to see the Tigers get respect and attention from the media. However, buying into preseason hype doesn't do any good.

I much rather watch the Tigers play their way into the number one spot.

Our last 4 bowls

Texas Bowl - Beat Texas Tech
Music City Bowl - Lost Notre Dame
Outback Bowl - Beat Iowa
Chick-Fil-A bowl - Lost Clemson

Bama has won 2 straight SEC championships, been to the Playoff both years (each with 1st year starting QB's) and is coming off yet another title under Saban. I love LSU and bleed purple and gold, but I'm also a realist. Frankly 6 is pretty damn high for a team that consistently has fallen apart in November for the last 4 years.

While listening to the SEC Network talking heads talking about LSU Quarterback question mark, I thought which year since JR and Flynn left have we had a confident quarterback situation, prior to the season.

Polls are irrelevant and are a relic of a bygone era. Win the West, win the SECCG and we're in the playoff.

Even if I did care about polls, I sure wouldn't give a hoot about a preseason poll.

Fiutak love the Tigers this year. If Saban, Meyer, or Harbaugh had this exact team they would be the heavy favorites and clear #1.

I don't know about number 1 but I'll give this guy props for flat out nailing the opening sentence.

Until LSU gets over the hump and actually beats Bama, the Tigers don't deserve to be ranked ahead of them, preseason or not.

But this is Les Miles' team which is worth dropping the Tigers a couple spots in the rankings if we are being honest.

I agree with your overall point. However, THIS team has never fallen apart. You might say the program or the coaches have fallen, but this team has never existed.
