The Porter situation is probably good news about Z Lee

You have to imagine that Miles had a heart to heart with Lee about his being on the team before he asked Porter to greyshirt.

Agree, There's almost always a good way to look at things, and this is no exception.

I see no correlation, Lee can still take the money and run. And if I'm 3rd string on Aug 16th behind Jarrett Lee and Jefferson, I'm not turning down millions to do that for the fall and then have to catch up in college baseball.

You can always come back and play QB if it doesn't work out with the Dodgers.

this makes more sense than anything written about the Porter situation. you know Les hates it when this crap happens and I personally hope Porter 'accepts' the grayshirt and becomes a huge contributor and fan favorite.

Dutch, damn didn't know you were Les's assistant. Here we were thinking positive and then you bust us with the news that he's 3rd string. If we only had all the facts like you.

Of course he can.

I choose to stand on the positive side of the fence, you can go stand on that shitty negative side.

I think it all depends on who gives him the Scholy Paul or Les! If Paul he has to stay 3 years and if Les he can leave after next year.

Hope he stays for both can use the competition to make those in the programs better for it.

He can't play football if he's on a baseball scholarship.

I doubt that Miles waited until 2 weeks before the MLB deadline to have a heart to heart with Zach. Besides, his scholly is already being accounted for.

More relevant than this Porter situation was the release of Garrett. I opened a thread when CG left that I thought it meant something positive relative to Z Lee status, I stand by that and I think Zach will be a Tiger.

the writing on the wall with Lee has been there for a long time now. The 2 things have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Interesting idea, and certainly plausible. No doubt LSU could use some depth at QB, and according to reports, Lee has great potential. Still, I hate to see LSU dropping OL, which also needs more depth. Of course, I have never seen either player play football.

First off, there is no way he isn't 3rd string this season.

Second, he's not getting a wonderful package from Dodgers for his slot.

Lee makes it to campus; redshirts this football season (barring injury to the other two); is 3rd string next year as a RSFR, and competes for a starting position in 2012.

I would be surprised if Lee red-shirted. The way Miles talks about Z Lee, Miles thinks he is a real player. Given LSU's QB depth problems, I think Miles will want Lee available soon, in case JJ gets banged up, especially later in the season.

Of course, predicting Miles behavior is like predicting the weather. It changes a lot.

He's not going to pass Jefferson or Jarrett Lee on depth chart in 5 weeks.

Grain of salt.

Z. Lee was a quality, but not elite recruit coming out of high school.

Not going to happen this season (unless there is an injury, which is quite plausible.

It took injuries to both Hatch and Jarret Lee in 2008 for Jefferson to move up the depth chart.
