Do you think that the "pause" (Jefferson looking to the sideline for play adjustment) before snapping the ball is a possible reason for the Offense not clicking??

I have seen several teams do this, and it just seems that the momemtum is affected.

What's the difference between standing at the line looking to the sideline for the play versus standing in a huddle looking to the sideline for the play?

This shite has only been mentioned about 100 times in the last hour. That is NOT making the o-line get man-handled or JJ hold the ball a few seconds too long.

The coaches can check off on the play according to what the defense is showing.

Right. They can also quick snap if defense isn't ready. It also prevents the defense from substituting, unless the offense subs.

Just FYI, JJ is on the record in favor of the "check with me" system.

I don't remember while watching the game I was yelling snap the ball. The ULL defense was trying to get in position, dont' let them just snap the ball

It is hard to get into or stay in any type of rhythm.

The Gators are also doing the pause.

However, the OL has to be stationary for 20 seconds every play.

There is a big difference between standing in the huddle listening to the QB call the play, then breaking and going to the line getting in a stance for 5 seconds before the ball is snapped versus getting hunched over in a stance at the line and remaining in that position for 15 to 20 seconds. It is much easier for the linemen to get in a rhythm by huddling versus the slow-paced no-huddle LSU is employing.

It was obvious against ULL in the second half that everytime LSU huddled between plays the o-line's blocking was better. Even Hawthorne and Moreau pointed this fact out on the radio. I think the slowed down no-huddle LSU is running is definitely hurting the o-line's blocking.

may be appropriate at some times, although I hate it with a passion. Sometimes, most of the time IMO you just need to line up and attack!

Football coaches are basically copycats. Just look how many teams now use "punt ugly" formation. This get to the line and then check to the sideline to see if there will be an adjustment to the defenses alignment and personnel is spreading.

But defenses are gonna adjust soon and change what they are doing accordingly.

I hate what we're doing and think it kills our rythem.

I agree. I don't like the coaches making the offensive calls from the sideline while the team stands at the line of scrimmage. The QB should be the one to make the audibles at the line. And if you do not have a QB who can do that, then recruit one who is capable of it.

Seems that most of the Rant does not like this. I wish they would get away from it and get more physical on the O-line. The huddle seems to benefit this team, and the pause can be used sometimes. Crowton really needs to consult me as i drink beer and watch the game trends.

No but I think JJ leaning forward as he gets the snap, on run plays, is a tell.

Dandy Don made a point about this today, actually, and I agree with you and him.
