On the Rant, there are those who are less than satisfied with certain coaching decisions, game plans, schemes, and general offensive (defensive, or ST) outputs. These have been quite ungenerously labeled, rated (and berated) as "nega-tigers" by the chattering classes who view themselves as arbiters of all that is good with LSU football.

I have a NEWSFLASH! There is now a Florida Gator version of the Rant's nega rating system. Or should I say, we now have a candidate for that nega-gator label to be put upon him by the TD powers that think they be.

Who, pray tell, is this new Nega-Gator? None other than their new head coach. Jim McElwain. He is less than satisfied with Florida's 2-0 win streak this season.

''It was embarrassing. It was embarrassing to our administration, our university,'' McElwain told reporters after the game. ''And almost came back to bite us in the end...but it’s not the brand or the style of ball that we’re going to play."

How refreshing to hear words of actual evaluation being spoken by a HC who wants to build on a culture of achievement and excellence. Here on the Rant, those kinds of words concerning LSU are discouraged by our fellow posters.

ETA: Please know I am not trying to put (or remove) words and motivations by our own Coach Miles. I know he is trying to build something special at LSU, too. I'm really just targeting those who won't engage in serious evaluation here without resorting to defamation and name calling.

And who but you, Ace Midnight, should be the one to lead the charge of defamation and refutation? Did you bother to read the link?

Coach not afraid to call a spade a spade. Has a vision for what he wants and how they are supposed to go about doing it and isn't just happy they won and it doesn't matter how.

McElwain is an irrepressible prick who studied at the feet of another irrepressible prick - one Nicholas Lou Saban - aka The Angry Little Man from West Virginia.

Now, he may have been right to chew out Taylor on the field, but I've never bought into the "talk down the team" - "never be satisfied" bullshite posturing of the negas - Miles said "We're not satisfied with the win" - while he was still on the field - there were 9 penalties - we overcame penalties, on the road in the toughest conference in CFB, that negated 2 touchdowns and a near comeback by, probably, the best QB we will face this year - a player that absolutely ran wild over us last year - almost 600 yards worth from their offense, almost 400 credited to Prescott - in a game that was not as close as the score suggested.

There are plenty of things to work on and Miles, in his on inimitable way, has admitted as much. The fact that many of us (and Miles) can point to positives in such a win (a definitive performance by LF7, great line play on both sides of the ball - extremely effective defense, albeit through less than 3 full quarters of play, etc., etc.) just sticks in the craw of negas like you and I, for one, and particularly pleased by this.

Keep rooting against the team until you get a coaching change - THEN, after half a dozen games, decide you don't like that guy either, rinse, repeat.

Or better yet, cheer for Bama. They've got everything set up and a coach that hates his players, hates the game and cannot even enjoy winning - just what the doctor ordered for negas.

That's right. He's known for always speaking his mind in a forthright manner. My target is not the coach. I only used an example of UF's HC as a model for all fans and Ranters, to say that is it not necessarily negative or tearing down a program to see flaws and areas of improvement that are needed. Or even to name them. Here, and without the name-calling in disagreement.

you are one of the top 10 worst/negative posters on here. Hands down.

Miles did a pathetic job coaching the second half Saturday. Absolutely.

But, you can't argue his success. Winning > 10 games per year, and getting LSU into a NC once every five years is pretty damn good. Tell me again what the hell Jim McElwain as ever accomplished???? Yet you suck on his dick like he is some great coach. I expect you are a young kid that is easily influenced.....and if you aren't, my apologies and sympathy for what you turned out to be in life.

Thanks. You merely re-enforced my premise. A person can't post here outside the carefully guarded "party line" with any opinions other than the accepted ones set out by our blowhard arbiters (like you and others) who must be so very afraid of truth being spoken that you will do whatever it takes to shut it down. Sad commentary on your life and values. My condolences to your family.

Ignore this ignorant MOFO. I remember when he came on TD and laid out his credentials like he was somebody important. What a joke.
