The more I like it. Kevin Steele is becoming bae right before my eyes Our elite talent will be great for him. I doubt we regress much at all. We might even improve if our defensive line excels under Coach O.

BTW, how filthy will our running game be? Holy balls I'm excited

Sorry if my sunshine pumping offends
I miss football

What has changed your mind sense the hire? Personally, I will have to wait and see how his first season turns out.

Optimism is good - a sign of mental health
It's that time of year, though, when weaknesses are erased from our mind's eye only to reappear when the action starts.

I enjoyed his presser. I'm also excited about incorporating 3-4 looks into the defense. It'll be refreshing seeing different looks. Also our talent is top notch.

I will also have to see how it turns out, but I'm super excited to see what comes of this hire. If we do drastically regress under Steele (which is what everyone in the SEC wants to see), it'll probably come around year 2 or 3. If the hire is a disaster as of next season, we'll get someone new.
Just the thought of someone else running the defense gets me excited.

So I guess my conclusion is, I'm excited to see what our defense looks like under Steele, and I won't dislike the hire until he gives me a reason to (sorry for the rambling, I'm tired and have ADD )

Hell even welter was born again at this time last year.

Personally I am glad there was a shake up. Hopefully it is a step in the right direction. Honestly I think coach O will bring back a dline that has been stagnant the last few seasons.

I for one was definitely tired of 3rd and Chavis, however he probably did one of his better coaching jobs in 2014 at LSU. I'm still up in the air about Steele. His resume doesn't bode well for him as a D coordinator but its who the athletic department hired. I'm going to close my eyes and hope for the best.

Im still wary as it seems recruiting was more of a priority with the hire than coaching. O coming on board makes me feel better but I guess time will tell.

Still feel like we "settled" for Steele with the hiring. He's going to have to prove it on the field with his system to win over the majority of fan base.

Of course you do, its all you can do really. You are bored and we are stuck with him now. So you are forcing yourself to like it.

We are merely good quarterback play away from playing for the conference hampionship the last four seasons. The Steele hire did not assist this missing link at all.

The defense will be fine.

Look at LSU team as a whole in regards to the coaching staff including offense and defense coordinators and then look at the players. Compare LSU situation to say Alabama which changed offense coordinators last year.

Bama did not win the BCS title but looked strong and as the season progressed looked better. The have a great staff and year after year finish at the top of rankings in recruiting if not #1. So the point is similar to the old riddle

[does the chicken come before the egg or does the egg come befor the chicken]

[does a team win because of the player talent or does the team win because of the coach]

I think Les and the staffs during his career win due to player talent and development and not for pure coaching. Give either Saban or Les the talent of Arkansas the last 10 years and in my opinion they would have zero conference titles and BCS titles.

With that said did Chavis succeed at LSU due to his coaching or because of his players.

Steele will do fine at LSU

We all know coaching at this level is more than game day, it is all about the program the coach brings to the table including recruiting, conditioning, studies, discipline, player development. This is why people on Rant who want Miles fired every other season need to look at what he has accomplished during his time at LSU averaging over 10 wins a season. There are schools that would die to be in the SEC with this type of record.

I think we're all sunshine pumping until Fall, nobody will know anything until what we see on the field until fall.
