The Miles Conundrum

I feel like you could insert Miles for Gundy, Michigan for Florida and not have to change much of the article...

He’s a credible candidate for the vacancy at Florida and also someone who quite possibly isn’t qualified to stay on at Oklahoma State. We make bullet lists like hard-eyed experts, but don’t coaches sometimes seem to function like Lisa Simpson’s magical anti-tiger rock? How does it work? It doesn’t. But you don’t see any tigers around, do you? Gundy was the first rock in OSU’s modern history to keep the tigers away for any length of time, and personally I hope he’s still on the sideline next season. One mauling is inconclusive; I need to be attacked by at least a few tigers before I learn my lesson."

This isn't going to go well on here. A lot of Gundy fanboys in the lsu "fan"base have been posting non stop about him the last few weeks. They have an awkward obsession with him on here.

The author doesn't seem to have much of a cogent point. Fact is, Gundy is a good coach and Miles is a good coach. Both have pretty glaring flaws, but so do pretty much all of the good coaches in the game (Saban, Meyer, Kelly and maybe a couple of others being the exceptions).

--barring the whole 30 billion dollars for him to leave this year, 15 billion next year but only 3 dollars to leave in 2017--
sometimes a guy needs a fresh start. poor ole cam newton is the best quarterback here in charlotte, but some fans hate him....some love him. and he is resentful of the resources he has. he thinks he is under-appreciated and cannot get out of that rut.
however, if you put him at say, at the redskins (for argument's sake), he has the potential to go absolutely wild.
they could be, in fact, the same philosophies, but a nice change in scenery and less resentment means more attention to the position at hand.
same could be said for ____fill in the blank____coach. Just a change of scenery is what they need to re-energize. it's hard to do when you know you can put all the effort in the world in your current situation and nothing can come out of it, so moving on is the best for everyone.

Look man, anybody could take the talent OSU gets on a yearly basis and win 10 games.
The place recruits itself.
What they need is a coach that the game hasn't passed by. Someone who's not scared to open up the offense.

this is a really weird claim. my impression has always been that michigan state couldn't compete recruit-wise with michigan till saban got there. and ok state couldn't compete with oklahoma recruit-wise till miles was successful there (and a huge infusion of that t boone pickens money started rolling in).
ok state gets good recruits, but i don't think of them as an elite recruiting team.

Could you imagine what somebody like Harbaugh could do there?
I could name at least ten other coaches who could walk in and have that talent at Bama levels within a year.
