We can debate the reasons for the loss (take your pick - Crowton's play calling, bad clock management, not planning for if we got a first instead of a TD on the 4th down with 9 seconds left, etc.), but what I hate most about the loss to Ole Miss:
1) 4 straight losses to Houston Nutt!! Unfricking believable!! And that includes two to Ole Miss after 6 straight wins.

Nutt has beaten LSU four straight times with Ole Miss and Arkansas and has never experienced anything like it.

2) the halfback pass McCluster threw for a TD. I think we all have been expecting to see pretty much that very same play all year from Russell Shepard. We all kept saying (hoping!) next game, Shepard will throw it. But instead, it's Nutt and McCluster that stick it to LSU!!

And speaking of McCluster, why haven't we seen more of the very same type of plays and results with Shepard? Sure, we've seen flashes of it here and there, but McCluster just shows how devastating such a multi-talented back can be when you give him more than just a few touches (or none) a game. Another one of those unfricking believable things about this season. Hopefully the next OC will have a better clue how to use all the great offensive weapons available at LSU.

Because McCluster is a 22 year old senior that has spent the last 4 years going through the wars of the sec. McCluster is also a natural running back, he has played that position his entire life. Ole Miss tried to make him a slot receiver for 2 years.

Sheppard is a 18 year old true freshman that was a friday night hero this time last year. Nice comparison though
