Today was the last straw...what a pathetic 4-game stretch by a team that could have cemented themselves into the tournament and instead they have all but played themselves out of the tournament.

Say what you want about Simmons, TQ, etc...it all falls on the coaches shoulders at the end of the day. JJ is just not a good coach. End of story.

We won't make the tournament with this team which is an absolute shame. Once this season ends, all of the excitement around LSU basketball will die (well, what's left of the excitement). Then, LSU will keep Johnny Jones on as the coach and next year we will be below .500 and the program will continue to be what it is.

I don't care that JJ has won more games in his first few years here than any other coach. He has nothing to show for it.

Great job motivating your team this week Coach Jones. Lay an egg at home to Bama and lose to a sub-.500 team on the road.

The sad thing is that people still believe he is a good coach...

Can't blame it all on the coach. The players have to do their part.

Your first thread that you started about this 3 hours ago didn't get the job done.

I'm not Jones's biggest supporter, either.....but.....he doesn't miss all those FTs, he doesn't turn the ball over or commit silly fouls, etc.

At some point, the players have to step up, too.

I've never believed that players need "motivation." If the players lack motivation, you have the wrong players.

I pretty much blame the coach completely here. We have an athletic and deep team, and have the last ranked defense in the SEC in terms of points allowed. That is remarkable

It's the coach's job to motivate the players. At end of day, wind and losses are on the coach. Poor offensive execution, defensive lapses, bad FT shooting, poor effort, etc...the list goes on and on.

If LSU wants to be good in basketball and fill the seats and build excitement around the program then they need to get a better coach. I don't know everything there is to know about basketball, but I can tell you with a good coach this team wouldn't be sitting with double-digit losses and on the wrong side of the tournament. This team failing this badly is a direct reflection on Jones ability to coach.

That never meant shite if you look at it in context.

Every LSU coach outside of Jones took over a shite show worse than Jones inherited except Trent, and even he was left with a team that's best players would be gone the next year with nothing behind them and woefully short on scholarship players....a trend he curiously seemed content to continue.

Now he recruited as well his first 3 years as anyone ever, but the year you'd expect that to show the most dividends has been a huge disappointment.

Come here to defend Jones more?? If I feel like starting a thread every hour about how bad Jones is, I will. He sucks as a coach and I will bitch and rant about his shortcomings until he is gone.

They might be "athletic," but they are very poor, fundamentally. And that will never win....

Being poor on defense when you are athletic and deep is squarely on the coaching. Lack of defense when you have depth is pathetic.

I agree, we have the length and athleticism to be much better on defense.

There was a comment during the broadcast where the commentator said he asked CJJ who his best defender was. He said well, it used to be Quarterman, but not anymore. This was right after he watched a guy go right by him baseline for an easy And 1 layup.

He frankly looked like he did not give a shite.

That is on Q to some extent, and CJJ did take him out but he put him back in, and left him in after several similar Ole's on D. That's on CJJ.

No, but his teams have done it for four years now. Weird, right?

Watching these other teams play it just shows you how far away LSU is from a tier 1 program.

We play a solid 8 players every night. We have a deep team for college basketball. Last year was a team that lacked depth and got tired due to minutes. No excuses this year for that

bullshite. Good coaches get effort from their players in games like this. It's part of their jobs. A big part. The listlessness, lack of focus and "want to" by most of the players and the team as a whole today, is 100% on the coach.
