I keep hearing people attempting to criticize this football team using the argument that if it wasn't for Leonard Fournette, LSU would not be a very good team this year and would have no chance at the playoffs.

This seems to be a pretty meaningless argument or discussion to discredit a college football team. How many national championship teams in the past 15 years had a player that, if injured, their season's hopes would be greatly diminished?

What do these people think of 2010 Auburn without Cam Newton or 2005 Texas without Vince Young? I would guess that almost all of the legit contenders around the country this year have a player that they can't win the championship without.

Are people so jealous because Fournette is such a beast that they have to use his domination as a negative?

If that's the only gripe about LSU, I'll take it, but it's a pretty pathetic rebuttal from people who don't understand basic principles of football.

The thread about the USC college girls "trashing" LSU on the radio saying without Fournette LSU would have lost made me realize that anybody who uses that argument sounds like a USC college girl talking about football.

Anyone saying this is ignorant.. Don't worry about it..

LSU is dominating the line of scrimmage.. that's what matters most period. Fournette is outstanding, but even he knows to thank his line and fullback. LSU has as talented a running back group as anyone..

If lsu were truly a one-man team don't you think we'd be pretty damn easy to beat?

Agreed.

The bigger picture here is that lf7 chose LSU. This program gave him the best chance at becoming great.

Our dominance at the line on offense is to be feared, especially when we run the ball with #7.
People are scared of what's coming. They should be.

I would agree that without Fournette, we would not be AS good. But if we didn't have him, Brandon Harris would be one of the best QB's in the country due to the sole fact that we would HAVE to throw more( Guice, Williams and Brossette couldn't combine to do what LF7 has done, no offense), thus allowing him to form and progress as a passer.

Well, a good thing he is on the team, then.

One man team happens to be one of the most gifted players in college Football history. Yea why wouldn't he be a one man team. And glad he's a tiger

Im not necessarily in disagreement with what you are saying because I think that we are one of the best teams in the country talent wise. I mean the offensive line has been opening up canyons for LF7 to run through.

With that being said i think that it will be imperative for us to open up the passing game once we get into the November stretch. I love watching us pound the ball at opponents. Who knows we may be that good on the ground that we can win it all just through the rushing game. However, I can't say I'm comfortable with how one dimensional we look AT TIMES. I say at times because Brandon Harris has shown signs of really being able to sling it; I think its more a question of his decision making rather than his ability to throw the ball downfield and we all know our receivers are stout to say the least. I think if we can increase our production through the air by about 30% or atleast posess the ability to when needed then we can win it all.

I get your point, but I don't think either of these teams win the championship without these players.

Fournette's absence would likely cost us a few games. It would have likely cost us State. Thank God he's here and not at Bama. We have a good team

You didn't get his point...thats what he was saying if you read the whole post. That AU without SCAM and UT without Vince Young would have been hard pressed to win a title. His point was with all that being true that didnt make them a "one man team".

Oops, it was worded kind of funny then. I thought he was saying that absent those players, those teams would still have won it.

You obviously didn't get his point. His point was exactly what you just said. Without Vince, without Newton, without Walker (Herschel), without Ward (Charlie), without Tebow, without Richardson 2011 (Trent), etc these teams don't win the title.

Sorry, as great as Fournette is.. LSU's strength is the run game.. regardless.. I don't see it the same as AU winning it all with Cam and being mediocre without him comparing then that LSU would not still be a strong team without Fournette.. They would. LSU is a strong team without even a QB.. They went to a National Championship against the toughest schedule with Lee/Jefferson.. If anyone is talented enough to overcome a superstar player it is LSU.. Unlike most teams that truly rely on a superstar.

Good point OP. Take Garret away from Aggie, Take Chubb from UGA, take Henry from Bama, Treadwell/nimdichie from OM, Dak from MSST..........

This could be said for every damn team in the SEC. What the haters don't realize is that D Willy and D Guice would still be wrecking shite
