Even though the refs made the correct call, I think Mathieu was a huge part in the Reid interception 'cause if you look at this video, he immediately throws his arms up to let the ref know that it was intercepted. The refs saw the HONEYBADGER and called int. Little things win games. If the refs would have called it a catch by Bama, it probably wouldn't have been over turned. Great instincts by the elusive HB.

Watch him throw up his hands immediately to sell the refs the interception.

Didn't need help, it was the right call Reid took the ball from him.

It wasn't overturned, it was originally called on the field as an int.
It was confirmed by video evidence, meaning whatever they called on the field didn't matter.

The refs saw the int and called int.

LSU players are going to signal int if it remotely looks like an int, even if it isn't...

Yeah when I saw the game he threw his hands up it seemed like before the play was even over... there was no hesitation.

I had the same thought as you.

What a retard. The back judge and the sideline ref *both* came in *immediately* signaling INT.

Get a life, refs weren't looking at him, all heads were facing down where they belonged.

This might be one of the dumbest things I've seen posted on a message board lousy with dumb things said every second.

If you don't think the reaction of players on the field can influence the call a ref makes then you are not very observant. Maybe you just never played football as an organized sport, idk but it is a very real possibility.

eta - the ref probably was already leaning to call interception and TM7's reaction confirmed it for him... no way to know really. It does happen very often. Hence "selling it" to the ref.

as a matter of fact if u pause it at :07 you see the side judge waving it dead and looking at TM7, the back judge is running in, not sure where he is looking. 3 players all signalling INT. The back judge then looks to the side judge and they shake their heads as if to say yes they are right and signal INT.

not saying that is exactly what happened, but VERY possible.

I thought that at the time it occurred, too. Getting the call on the field was huge.

Question - had the ruling on the field gone the other way do they over rule that one??? Wow!

I don't know if it helped this particular case but I do believe players reactions can sway a refs call. I cannot remember the year or who we played in baseball but I remember and LSU player being called out at second base and I believe it was the second baseman's reaction that sold the ref on making a bad call. It may have been the UC Irvine.

ETA IMO the second baseman's reaction sold the play

For the 1000th time the play was Confirmed! LSU would have had the ball no matter what. Officials ruling on the field didnt even matter play ws reviewed and confirmed.

Oh please..What are will be said next? That he turned into the football on Wing's 73 yarder? Sheesh the credit that the guy gets for doing absolutly nothing in the biggest game of the year (except get burned by 15 and commit the stupidest penalty this side of Rahim Alem punting the ball) is amazing. #7=overrated There are so many better players on this awesome LSU team to look up to

Catman, I think you're ignoring the importance of the initial ruling on the field. It's pretty common for the replay to be inconclusive, which means that the call made on the field is what stands. Had the original call gone the other way in this case, the play would have to be overturned rather than simply confirmed, which requires a higher standard of certainty. For that matter, we don't know whether it would even have been reviewed at all if it had been in Alabama's favor initially.
