We have the talent to make the tournament this year. Hell, you only have to be about the 48th best team once the small conference automatic bids are recorded.

It's like making it to the 24th best bowl game. It's not that hard. We SHOULD make it this year.

Next year I'll judge on it's own merit, but why can't we expect the team to play to it's potential now?

Last year we had more than enough talent to make the tournament, this year we have even more, but again we'll be watching the big dance. I cannot disagree more that college basketball is dominated by a few teams, look at all the mid majors who have recently emerged.

To say lsu doesn't have the potential is extremely short sighted, we have more than enough resources to attract a coach who can get us to the tournament consistently. Hell we could have had tony bennett a couple yrs ago....we would be head and shoulders better than we are now.

yeah, I guess more meant that the recruiting trail is dominated by a select few, unless you're someone like Jones and Pearl who have deep AAU ties.

Enduring the Brady and Johnson era has been defeating, and I guess the idea of a Dale Brown era doesn't bother me at this point. I have family friends who know Bennett's wife, and I know for a fact he'd have taken the job

I hope I don't come off as a hater or troll, but it's so damn frustrating to watch. With all of the talent we have we should be much better. Even with the outstanding recruits coming in next year, what's difference is it going to make if the coaching isn't up to par?

Nah, I'm just a huge positiger with Jones because I want to tell myself he's the guy for LSU. Jones just wants to be at LSU and his some positive attributes. naturally I'm cheering for the guy to excel in his dream job, and we're so close to making that happen

I just think LSU's defensive approach is a completely different animal with more post depth. I watched La Tech on Cox against UAB, and it was entertaining as hell watching them press all game. that style gets the crowd rocking, and it's what Jones wants. We're just sticking a square peg in a round hole with guys like Bridgewater and Malone, as much as I appreciate their effort and dedication to LSU

Yea, but fortunately getting all these top flight guys isn't the end all in winning college championships or calipari would win every year. It helps out, but you still need to coach the kids up and have them play as a cohesive unit. Currently we play as individuals.

absolutely. I am by no means expecting the team to not make the tournament. the heat will really crank up on jones if we're NIT bound this season, and he'll deserve it. I'm just not writing lSU off at 12-4 yet

I just can't fathom why we can't be better fundamentally.....maybe it's mental.

they are just saying the right things, they just dont know how to play especially in situations like a team going zone for stretches. they are still quite poor fundamentally especially when it comes to passing the ball.

if they want to call themselves an uptempo team they need to get it inside and get to the rim more. take someone off the dribble. martin does this in flashes, wish he'd use it more as opposed to pulling up for a long two

right S. They always do. That's what's so frustrating.

What's the old saying? Don't listen to what they say, watch what they do.

There's a disconnect.

Do you folks watch any college basketball besides lsu? Our offense is by far the biggest unorganized mess I've seen on a court in a long time,

When I watch other teams, they seem to actually run plays, and run them well with fundamentally smart lay-ups instead of always going for the dunk or NBA 3. They play sound defense, and rebound.

LSU looks so undisciplined. The goofy turnovers, ill-timed dumb shots, and inability to convert simple tip-ins, despite multiple offensive rebounds, is frustrating to watch.

It's gotta be coaching.

I agree with what some others said earlier about what the staff and players are saying in the pc..."we've got to stop taking stupid shots."

Seems like the coaches can only remind these guys so many times before we have to bench key contributors in order to make a statement

was never a big fan, johnny is what he is. he recruits at a high level so he has that as an endearing quality especially given what we had before with trent.

gotcha.

Yeah, I mentioned in the thread earlier that I'm content with a Dale Disciple as long as he produces the same results

I watched that. You still can't ignore they just spanked an OU team that crushed UT in Austin. Texas was just playing like Rick Barnes wasn't even there

I went to the game today, it was hard to swallow. I'm trying to remain positive about the future but feel Mickey and Martin leave after this year and their time here will have been a waste.
