Why the difference. The LSU baseball crowd is generally known to be loud, but respectful and welcoming of opponents and their fans. Very few a-holes and heckling. Football, not so much. Why do you guys think the difference exists?

Most lsu football fans are psychopaths while the legit baseball fans are knowledgable and realistic.

Eta: im a football and baseball season ticket holder and there is nothing like spending a weekend at the box

because LSU hangs their hats on baseball...they know the great program it is and not threatened by anyone.

Football everyone is super insecure and they lash out to hide the fact

I think when you have 90k plus gathered vs. 5k you'll generally have more drunken assholes.

90,000 in TS of which half are lit from tailgaiting all day. Baseball is much more family oriented. Football LSU fans are given a bad wrap for the most part. Baseball the fans are very good to opposing teams. Either event though will feed opposing fans and treat them well before and after game.

and FUSC!

well there are 92,000+ in the stadium..so just by numbers alone the amount of assholes and drunkards will be proportionately higher

and the nature of the football tailgate in general feeds that

It will pretty much be the same anywhere

Baseball is just a totally different game and culture than football.

I would imagine the baseball crowd consists of an older population than the football crowd. Lots of students will attend football games, get drunk, and be assholes.

I'm sure some students attend the baseball games, but I would imagine a higher percentage of the crowd is older than the percentage at a football game.

I was speaking in proportionate terms. I am in agreement with the comments, except for one small one.

LSU probably has more than that during a midweek game at a bad hour in the rain.

Totally different atmospheres between the sports for starters.

Secondly, I think LSU football fans actually have a better reputation amongst non-SEC visiting fans.

If LSU played 12 baseball games a year, I think it'd be a little more hostile at each game.

actually both are considered this unless you're an SEC opponent...which is understandable.

Most attended LSU and IMHO better educated. People are a product of their surroundings. More families and you don't have a lot of drunks.

Its has more to do with the nature of the sport than the actual fans. I am willing to bet its like this at other schools as well.

Because they get treated that way at opponents venues so they react in kind. What about at the SEC BB tournament when AL &/or Auburn are in it. Do you call that behavior respectful?
