They may have recovered quicker this time around. Last year LSU started 1-5 in the SEC then they went on a pretty good run.

I think LSU is in the process of turning it around. 2-2 is a lot better than 0-4.

Starting with the Vandy game LSU plays 4 of 5 at home.

Vandy, Missouri, @Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas.

LSU needs to go 4-1 in that stretch. 3-2 isn't terrible but it wouldn't leave them much room for error down the stretch.

What LSU needs is more than zero quality wins. Only thing close to that right now is St Joes.

Mizzou is a big game. Probably one of the better teams we have played this season.

Good point Boat, and were playing every bit as bad. They didn't have the bad OOC home loss like this year, but they lost to the two worst teams in the conference...South Carolina and Auburn.

Not sure why they have to go through this, but if JOB3 can manage to finish this year as he did last year, and Hickey comes around, which I think he will the opportunity is still there, we just make it harder than it had to be.

I think they can still get to 12-6.. as crazy as that sounds. Then how they play in the SEC tournament will decide their fate.

Put yourself in the shoes of CJJ for a minute (not you specifically but anyone reading)

You convince job to stay.

You recruit Martin and Mickey and bring them in.

You would naturally want all three on the court to start.

You discover job plays much better with less traffic under the basket

You tweak the lineup

You win the sec tourney

I count minimum 5 losses with the ONLY one winnable is home to kentucky. So we'd need to upset kentucky for a best case 12-6. To compound matters, at least half of those 10 wins are tossup games. Ie. - Tuesday vs mizzou, at Georgia.

If only Hickey would have hit an open free throw line jumped at the buzzer we'd be running through the streets naked right now instead of moping around.

What are they? Missouri, Kentucky, @Arkansas, @Kentucky, @Florida?

I predicted 11-7 before conference play started thinking 12-6 was a reasonable expectation.

I don't think you are crazy Boat. If O'Bryant and Hickey start playing as they can and should, and the younger players continue to develop, this conference is well weak enough to get there.

But that if is crucial.

Looking at the schedule, I just don't see us winning at Kentucky, Florida or Arkansas. That's 5 total losses right there.

That's why I say there is no margin for error.

The remaining games are either games we should win or games we can win but we can't lose more than 1 or 2 of the can wins if we want to give ourselves a chance going into the SEC Tournament.

Kentucky at home is big not only because it would give us the resume win we desperately need. They are more talented than us, but they've struggled a bit with cohesion among the prima donnas and we've got a fighters chance.

But first things first. Missourri with all their road troubles is still very formidable. It starts Tuesday.

The Mizzou game is huge. It's a must win because I dont see us going 3-0 against @ Bama, UK, Arky...although if we lose to Arkansas at home that's flat embarrassing

It's definitely going to be a matchup of Mizzou's much better guards against ours vs. our much better forwards vs. theirs.

It really is, as will pretty much every game will be because of our hiccups of late.

Let's get that and then end this funk in Tuscaloosa. They are ripe for the picking. I've seen them play several times this year and we have as good a shot as we've had in ahwile.

It's especially big because we simply dont have much opportunity to get high quality wins the rest of the season.

Mizzou
UK
@ UK
@ UF

That's pretty much it the rest of the season in terms of possible RPI Top 50 teams we'll play. Really need to pickup 2 wins from that list and Mizzou at home is the easiest of that bunch.

Mizzou by far the easiest, I think UK is winnable at home if we get a good crowd and stay in it early. The road games are going to be damn near impossible

LSU played really well in Rupp last season. Of course that Kentucky team kind of stunk. But LSU is also better. It's going to be a fun game that I always look forward to.

I still go with 11-7 and think that will be a good season. My expectations are now back to reality. This is a good team but facts are facts. We have no one we can absolutely count on to bring it with consistency everytime. Hickey and Job are very emotional players who when they are up are great but when down not so good. Stringer is fantastic when he is hitting his jumper but is a non factor when not. Coleman was great when he was hitting three's but lately has even been blowing layups. Quaterman has played like a freshman and will probably continue that way with some improvement but with the chance for a breakdown and turnovers. Martin has done much better lately but still seems to have trouble finding a place for himself. Mickey has been stout but was totally taken out of the game by Ole Miss zone.

So 11-7 which is improvement from 9-9 is okay by me. It won't crush me if we have to settle for the NIT as long as we play well and advance to later rounds. That will be good exposure for the program, nice experience for the freshmen and will set the stage for next year which should be a monster.

Well that's pathetic because Butler is atrocious. Have you seen their conference record?
