Loved the halftime performance, including the drum solos and all the various configurations they made. One of my favorite performances at half time ever

I was about to start a topic about the band.

I also listened to them last week in the PMAC before the game, and they sounded better than they have in a long time.

Looking great under new leadership.

In the words of Gordy Rush back in the day "the band was solid".

Side question: Any band members here that can say if the band is smaller in numbers? People sitting by us were complaining that the band is "so small now".

Only managed to get pics of 2 of the formations. Great half time performance!

It was the biggest crowd reaction to a halftime show in a long time, not counting the shows saluting the military. They actually marched while playing, which is what marching bands are supposed to do. In recent years, they were more of a "park and "play" band. The drum solo was also very cool.

They are down in size a bit from last year, but not as much as some would have had us believe. Our band was never one of the largest in the SEC anyway. I thought they did a phenomenal job.

Passing by and watching rehearsals at the band hall parade ground, the band looks much smaller in numbers--doesn't look like much more than 200, including GG, flag corps, etc.

Wonderful if they are sounding better and marching while playing--they were indeed becoming a "park and play" band. And if Llinas is making them better, I'll give him credit while admitting I was pessimistic with his lack of director experience at the university level.

If numbers are down though, from 325, I don't think it's signifying that the standards are high--but lack of interest, in big part because of lack of stipends.

I'd still feel better long-term if we went back to the Wickes model and hired a director with a monster reputation and gave him/her the title Director of Bands. But they'll probably name Llinas permanent director, which I guess he earned.

Too bad half the crowd left to beat traffic. Maybe free beer would be a way to keep people around. The game doesn't see to cut it.

shhh don't tell this to Irish Tiger. According to him the GBFTL leadership are crap and terrible people and the bands sucks under their leadership.

Why is this? Both parts.....why are numbers down and why are they smaller than others?
