The Auburn and Arkansas games are nothing alike
Posted by Geauxgurt on 11/17/14 at 10:48 am00
I notice a lot of people harkening back to the Auburn game performance by Harris as reason he isn't "ready" or "any better" than Jennings, but are people honestly saying that the games are anything alike?
LSU's defense gave up 17 points in the first 13 minutes of that game, while after horrible play in the Arkansas game by the offense, LSU was down 3.
In fact LSU gave up 24 points on 4 straight drives to open the Auburn game, while only giving up 10 points at halftime to Arkansas.
Secondly, Auburn is a significantly better team than Arkansas despite their recent struggles.
It was Harris' first start, it was on the road, and in a ridiculously harsh environment against a top 5 team that was a national championship runner-up last season, and not a cellar dweller the past two seasons. That doesn't mean Arkansas was a bad team, but they are nowhere near Auburn. Also, Harris only played part of the second half in that game while Jennings got to play the entire Arkansas debacle.
In the end, he struggled, and struggled mightily, but that game was way different from what we saw from a player with 10 starts under his belt and a defense that had a pulse.
