It's funny (or sad) how you hear this consistently from analysts when picking an LSU game.

Routinely it goes something like:

"It'll be close, but LSU has too many athletes on the field. They'll win a close one."

Maybe I key in on it more, but I don't seem to hear that narrative with most other teams. Basically we win despite our coaches.

Can we finally change that perspective of us? I mean, we have two outstanding coordinators. Guys that nobody would question their football acumen. Could this be an era where LSU wins due to coaching AND athletes?

Let's hope so.

They have no reason to say otherwise as of today. We should turn it around though

They say stuff like that bc of our HCs and we just downgraded. You think that'll make them stop?

We upgraded OC's, and if anything we stayed the same at HC. We didn't downgrade.

How did we downgrade? You fools who look to the past records of coaches as their current value have such an altered view of reality. Coach O is, at the very least, a lateral move at head coach, but I would consider an upgrade based on his hiring of Canada.

Coach Miles was great for LSU until he wasn't, and his value as a head coach had plummeted. As evidence, look at how many offers he's received to coach. I worry the man is actually suffering with dementia. Miles should be proud of his career at LSU, but his 1970s Big 10 offense crippled LSU against good competition.

If you can honestly say you'd rather Miles than O, I can't help you. O is a package deal with his staff decisions. Miles sank with an antiquated offense and refusal to part ways with his buddy at Offensive coordinator.

Well, the coach we downgraded to is 12-4 when coaching those types of athletes and football players. Its time to be objective and judge him on the results over the next few years. While he may not be a polished and articulate speaker Bear Bryant was hardly the intellectual and not always polished around the edges. Both Bryant and Orgeron have proven they can communicate and connect with their players. Lets see how this translates to success on the field for Orgeron now that he officially has the top spot with a full stable of athletes.

Conversely, imagine never being told you have good athletes. You should be proud of your athletes. You will never ever hear the narrative that BYU's athletes are good, just blue collar types.
