The 2017 football schedule is surprisingly manageable

With 5 SEC road games next year, it felt like the chance of having a very good year took a big hit. But I was just perusing the schedule, and it is very manageable.
We don't have any back to back road games, except Ole Miss and Bama, but that has a bye week in between. And we all know that we have had more success at BDS against Bama than we have had at home, so playing them on the road might be just what we need this year.
We have a nice warm up game prior to the road trip to Florida with Troy at home, and then we come home to play Auburn. Given that Ole Miss should be significantly down this year, and Arkansas probably won't be much better, that Florida/Auburn stretch appears to be the toughest back to back games this year.
We finish home v. Arky, at Tennessee and A&M at home. Given our record in Neyland, I would say the Tenn game is going to be the biggest challenge of that stretch.
I don't know what our record will be, but the schedule shouldn't be the hindrance I initially thought it might be.

That schedule isn't correct we are at UF for the next two years.

Who the hell knows where or when the Fla game will be played between the SEC and that school.

Troy is going to be a tougher game than you realize. Team lost by six at Clemson last year and returns a 3000+ yard passer, a +1200 yd rusher and its top 5 receivers.

You must have forgotten we are DBU

It'll be a good test to see how Coach O handles the mid major programs. We all knew that Les liked playing them close as hell just to scare the hell out of us it seemed like but he also almost always managed to win. I would like to see O put a little killer instinct in this team so we can just smash a team that 9/10 we beat easily. (easily being a relative term I do understand nothing is easy in college football)

Recently, I disagree...
2012 Neutral lost by 3 touchdowns.
2012 Home lost on damn near last play of the game.
2013 Away lost by 3 touchdowns.
2014 Home lost in overtime.
2015 Away lost by 2 touchdowns.
2016 Home held them to 3 stalemate quarters.
If were being realistic I dont see us breaking the losing streak against Bama on the road.

Not so much worried about this as watching the first string QB still in the game when we are up 30 pts with 4 mins left in the game.

I believe the Southern Miss game last year was the only data point you can look at. 10-10 at half is no bueno, but the way the team came out and flat dominated the second half was satisfying.

November looks brutal on paper. Bama is Bama but Arky and A&M at home are very winnable and at Tenn is a toss up.

I think the over/under line should be 9.5 wins.
@ UF won't be easy by any means, but they lost a lot of good players from a defense that really carried them all of last season. Who is their QB? Del Rio who wasn't great or Franks? LSU has played well in the swamp over the last few years and UF's offense has been nothing special since McElwain took over.
@ Tenn comes in a tough spot after what will be two physical games vs. Bama and Ark. Jones has recruited fairly well there, but last year was supposed to be their breakout season. It wasn't. Gone are the Sr. QB; two talented RB's, as well has some really good defense players (particularly Barnette)
I don't think there are any home games that really scare you. Bama on the road is never easy and playing 5 SEC road games is a tall task, but I don't think it is in any way implausible that LSU goes at least 3-2 in those conf. road games. Couple that with running the table at home and beating BYU, then you are looking at a record of at worst, 10-2 (6-2).

We've played them closer at home.

Who is behind Dobbs at Tennessee? I think he's finally gone. Seems like he's been there for 10 years.

Not so much lately. Our last two trips to BDS we got blown out, while the last several at home have been very close. Last year's 10-0 game was the biggest margin for Alabama in Death Valley since 2002.

Last 3 Bama games at home have been very close.

I wouldn't say that, at least not lately.
In the last 5 years since we have beaten them the home games have been competitive and the away games haven't been
2012 @LSU : last minute screen to yeldon
2013 @UA: 17-38
2014 @LSU: OT
2015 @UA: 16-30
2016 @LSU: 0-10, tied in 4th qtr
Yes we beat them in Tuscaloosa in 11, but we beat them in BR in 10 too. I'd say home field has helped us a lot lately
