That was the definition of a trap game.

And we came out with a W.

Coming off 2 conference games, an early game on the road against a Syracuse team looking to make a statement. They could have easily caught us slipping in those conditions. Never take a win for granted because any team can lose on any given Saturday. This is a great win, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy it!

No......LSU would have to have a tough opponent next week in order for it to be a trap game.

Trap games are sandwiched in between two big games. We must have been looking ahead to Eastern Michigan.

Nah, Eastern Michigan isn't a tough game.

Didn't look like a trap game going in, but it was starting to feel like it a little bit. Still though, not enough to be that, but hopefully the closest we get.

Team is young and listening a little too much to the hype. Hopefully, this somewhat lackluster performance will shake them up a bit. It felt like a trap game though.

Agree. Glad they didn't have their #1. Teams always have these kind of games. Even championship teams.

Not at all. We play Eastern Michigan next week and Syracuse isn't a great team, especially with their 3rd QB taking the snaps.

I believe the term for this situation is a "letdown game." Similar ideas, different variables.

This.

I called it a semi-trap game earlier, but letdown game is the correct terminology.

Warm up game canceled, face 2 SEC opponents that beat you last year in back to back weeks, far travel game, early kickoff, 2nd game on the road in 3 weeks, upstart 3-0 team with nothing to lose, etc.

Prime criteria for a lack of focus letdown game.
