Man so Beck and Duke gone...recruiting for ILBs not looking so hot...let's just take a second to appreciate Devin White for switching to LB because this place would be unbearable atm and LSU would be fukt at ILB

He was recruited as a LBer the whole time. He never switched because he started out as s LBer as soon as he got to LSU.

I think we'll be fine at LB. We'll find some guys and Aranda will put them in the right spots.

As for White, he looked incredible Saturday.

He had to be convinced to play lb. He wanted to be recruited to play rb.

A lot of us knew that Devin was an elite talent when he chose us over Alabama. Still, being a high four star or five star is no guarantee of success.
What we didn't know was how would accept his responsibilities as student and teammate. We are beginning to see those answers now and it appears that Devin may be on his way to be a team leader and a budding collegiate star.

Great attitude, usually first down on kick offs - 'gonna make a difference!

Aranda made 2*-3* players look great at Wisconsin, imagine what he can do with a physical specimen like White. White looks the part of a "heat seeking missile".

White, Divinity, Alexander, and Key as your 4 LBs if we run a 3-4... I don't hate that

And if he had chosen to go to another school and play RB like he initially wanted to? He had the offers.

In hindsight, White was a HUGE recruiting win.

The girl I was dating during his recruitment worked with his godmother. We recruited him as an athlete but it was well understood he would most likely go to linebacker. He wanted to play running back and that's why Arkansas appealed so much to him. But he realized his future is on defense and just that running backs aren't as valuable as they use to be, but getting him his huge and he will be solid for us.

Wrong. He was LSU's only running back recruit for 2016. It's well documented. I personally talked to Burton Burns, AL AssociateHC and RB coach on the sidelines at a North Webster game during Devin's senior season; they wanted him at RB. In the spring of his junior year he talked to some teammates about playing LB in college, but by the time his senior season rolled around, it was all running back. One of my friends was at the football complex here during the summer leading to Devin's sr year on a day when a number of college coaches made a recruiting trip. There were 3 or 4 asst coaches there. All but one was an offensive coach. The only defensive coach?? John Chavis from A&M. That didn't work out well for A&M. In the final days of his recruitment, LSU had multiple coaches make trips to Springhill; none were defensive coaches. One of the NWHS asst football coaches told me Devin decided to switch to LB after he enrolled at LSU and had a discussion w/ Les Miles. Devin's main interest was finding which position to get him the most playing time the soonest.

ummm yeah I believe it is right. LSU had no intentions at playing him at RB. LSU needed him at LB and white knew that when he was being recruited by LSU.
