Mack Brown said today on ESPN that college football today is not about domination anymore. It's about survival on gameday. Any team can beat another on a given day. The 'minor' teams can play up; 'major' teams don't often play to potential. Winning should be enjoyed, not picked apart by fans who don't know all the dynamics of week to week preparation. Leave that to coaches...if you don't, you won't enjoy the experience of college football that makes me want to be in Tiger stadium or on the road with the tigers every weekend. It's still all fun unless we analyse winning and losing to death.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Mack Brown on this.

The problem is that many fans read nothing but websites dedicated to their teams, many of which overhype the ability of the players/coaches. By the time the season starts, fans are shocked that their team isn't winning every game by 40 or more points. The truth is that most programs have great facilities, run similar workout regimes, coach many of the same techniques, and with the scholly limitations are able to recruit good athletes.

This is very true and we often ignore the point that Mack makes - that the internal dynamics are not known to anyone including past coaches/players or friends and family leave alone reporters and fans.

I'm guessing there are 'horns on the Texas boards calling for Brown's dismissal over that statement.

What? A bunch of failures at life who live precariously via a bunch of 17-21 year old college students?

I don't agree. Even though we lost to Alabama last year, I was proud of their performance. Fans want to see a good product on the field and when they don't, they complain. Pretty simple.

So who is going to be pissed if we go 11-1 this year and "Barely" winning each week and NOT BLOWING teams out that we should?

I dare to say anyone will be dissappointed!

Hopefully after this weekend, those NAY SAYERS after the UW game will be quieted!

Germans Im sure, however Im just getting back on solid soil!

I agree with Mack on this one. In the first 5 years of the BCS, all of these champions had undefeated seasons. Over the next 6 seasons, there were only 2 undefeated teams (USC and UT). JMO, but higher quality players are going to programs where they can get immediate PT.

I think there's a lot of truth to this.

Still does not make lackluster performances (real or perceived) any easier to accept.
