Thanks for posting. Great memories of great games.
You don't hear much about the 5-4-1 1960 team. The Tigers graduated about everybody from the 1959 team and were mostly inexperienced sophomores at the beginning of the season. Freshmen weren't eligible then. LSU won the opener against Rice and lost 4 in aa row. Huge underdogs at Ole Miss who was in the hunt for the Natl Championship, but
LSU played a great defensive game and tied them 6-6, costing them the NC. I remember a great punt return.by Jerry Stovall in that game. The rest of the season was all Tigers, and the next year too.
1961 IMHO, that was the most talented team in my memory, with Stovall, Fields, Amedee, Earl Gros in the backfield, and Dennis Gaubatz, Moonie Winston, Monk Guillot, Gene Sykes, Jack Gates on the line (white team) playing both offense and defense. The go team and bandits were stacked too. The highlights of 1961 was Stovall's 57 yard run on a counterplay to set up Harris's touchdown which came on a sweep following guillot's pancake block of Ole Miss cornerback Louie Guy if I remember correctly. I still remember it as the most exciting game in Tiger Stadium, right up there with Notre Dame and Fla '97. Sorry I missed Ole Miss '59, but couldn't get tickets and had to listen on a radio at a Halloween party, but I was able to console by making out with mammoth mammaries Darlene.

It seems to me that the '59 Cannon punt return that is usually shown on TV is not as clear or precise (it's from a lower angle and does not track Cannon continuously LINK) as in this highlight reel (which seems to be game film from at or above press box level).
Wish this film is what would be shown when Halloween rolls around instead of the other...
