Can someone clue me in on why the vendors had to keep the tops of the overpriced water bottles we buy in the stadium?

I'm guessing this has something to do with students.

This is still being discussed in my house.

One of the guys selling water bottles came over to our section. Guy asked how much, he said $5.50. Then a guy shouted "how much would you sell me a cap for?"

When did this become a problem? I don't recall this last year.

And seriously, do they think everyone does this? I'm in the South End Zone in Sec. 416. I'm 55 years old, I doubt I could hit the field without throwing my arm out of socket.

When the guy sitting next to you knocks over your water bottle that has a cap on it, the water stays in.

You know who buys more water? Guys who have had water bottles knocked over with no top on them...

Not really. A student got sent to the hospital during the Bama game last year after being hit by a full water bottle with the cap on

Pretty standard procedure for large events. They've been doing it at NFL games and concerts in NOLA for years.

It's a liability issue. If some drunk throws a full bottle with cap on it retains it's full force until impact. Cap off = less chance they get sued or have to shell out big bucks if it hits someone.

Throw bottle water with cap on, it remains a projectile.

Throw it without a cap on and half the water flies out, loses momentum, strikes like a pillow.

What is with all you morons just realizing this is a thing? Been a rule for a years now

It's so people can't hurl full bottles of shite onto the field.

How stupid do you have to be to not figure that out?

The students always toss the bottles/ cups in the air after a big play. A full bottle with a cap on can do some serious damage if it hits someone.

Oh really? It wasn't in place last year, at least not in the area where I sit, genius.
