it is/was very much like the dissolution of marriage. when things were good, they were really good. the quirks and idiosyncrasies that used to be cute became an annoyance. they couldn't mask the repeated problems and trouble anymore. the stress from being let down repeatedly became too much to overcome. we tried to work things out last November, but lambeau was the final straw. we knew it was over. same behaviors at auburn sealed it. after 10+ years, he was never gonna change. better to end it now , take a sigh of relief and move on.

Amen!
So glad it's over.
Miles "holding back the players" schtick was getting old. He was too focused this bs.
If by "mad hatter" you mean goofy then what is to miss?
No more unintelligible Les-speak! We are saved this mindless prattle.

I really don't understand this sentimentality.

I still find it a bit weird that Cholly Mac is gone, but I guess I'm showing my age.

I can't lie...I've had this uneasy feeling at times this week as no matter what this move by us is risky.

Anyone who doesn't feel unease, even if they've ALWAYS claimed they always knew he was the wrong guy is being a bit disingenuous I think.

What LSU is attempting to do, and someone feel free to check on this if they want, is to do the unprecedented.

We're trying to replace a coach who won a National Title who himself replaced a coach who won a National Title with a guy we are expecting to not just win a National Title but multiple ones since ultimately that's what just got the former coach fired. Has that every been done in the history of the sport? Three straight coaches at one program who won titles? And in this case three coaches who not only reached the pinnacle of the sport but literally made the program EVEN STRONGER with each hire?

Not saying it's not possible, just that as far as I can tell it's never been done. We're in uncharted waters here...might do us some good to recognize that on occasion.

Not weird at all, just a great time for our damn strong football team no longer has a quitter leading them.

I think with all of our excitement for a fresh start it's semi surreal that Les Miles is no longer apart of this football team. I absolutely 100% believe it was time to move on and I look forward to seeing what Coach O can do with the rest of the season, but Les Miles is gone. Just think about that.

Shits just wild

It's only really wild to fans (such as I) who only became fans during the Miles era. I was not a football fan until I was 17-18, 2006/2007.. so all I've ever known for LSU football is Les Miles. It's surreal, but Coach O has me pumped AF

I think it'll take a whole year for the 'weirdness' of it to wear off. Les was here so long he was basically synonymous with the program.

You may be part of the problem if you think Saban winning the National Championship and putting LSU back on the front page of the media is bad.

Nah, but you may be part of the problem if you're still drooling over Saban and resenting Miles. They're gone. Let it go. Never once did I mention Saban. Good lord some LSU fans must keep his poster above their bed or something. I'm looking towards the future. So no point of trying to shite on a good man, or talk about Saban's NC. It's all old news.

Btw, my whole comment about being good for the State was about how much Miles gave back to the State and its people in times of need. The other side of my comment about taking the program down a peg perception wise would be to hire a petrino or Briles type guy. Nothing to do with Saban. So, don't worry I'm not attacking your God.

Ffs, some people will never be happy unless Saban comes back and apologizes to them personally. Then becomes HC again and wins 5 NCs in a row. Oh wait, you would still find something to complain about i bet.

Im sure Miles has made this program irrelevant too. Makes a whole lot of sense since people consider it a top 5 coaching job in the country. Yeah he really ran everything in to the ground. You're like a dramatic teenager. Again, glad he is not our coach. No reason to wish the man ill will going forward.

Honestly,it makes me sad. I always wanted him to leave on his own accord after winning another title.

I feel like I can finally get excited about a game. I loved Les Miles from 2005-2007, because his approach was somewhat fresh and hard to plan for... But once you do that approach for a decade without tweaks or studying the other side... It became robotic and easy to plan for/defend. Hints the decline and the RIDICULOUS FRUSTRATION!

The only weird feeling I have is being excited to see the Tigers play again.

I wasn't being sentiment at all. Like I said, I am absolutely thrilled that LSU moved on. Adjust your panties.

Whether you loved him or hated him, it is still crazy to think about. When something has been the same for over a decade, and then it changes overnight, it is weird.

He mentioned on Dan Patick's show that he was going to try and get tickets to the UNC vs Fla. St game to go support his son that plays at UNC.
Think how weird it'll be for Miles to look up at the scores on the video board and see LSU
