I know Im a dead horse but....

You could see a massive difference in technique as well as strength when watching Bama tackling vs LSU tackling. They hit, they explode, they wrap up. We overrun and swipe with one arm, or we dive at ankles. We are scared, truly scared. I also see our players intentionally slowing themselves down so they are late to arrive at point of contact. We dont WANT it, we hope our teammate gets it done.

Why do we do this, why is this acceptable? I know our coaches (and players) know better, why arent our players getting any better at it? If it wasnt sad, it would be funny. We are scared to death to hit and wrap up. (I understand sometimes defensive backs arent the greatest tacklers but even our LB's seem scared to hit and wrap).

duh, it's because of the attrition and the losses to the NFL.

Bama has better players on defense than LSU does.
It's not that complicated.

True....but proper technique can be coached....and our coaches obviously aren't doing it.

The fact that we don't wrap up has nothing to do with Bama being more talented. You can suck at football but still attempt to do things correctly (IE wrap up when you tackle).

A major college team who refuses to even try to tackle correctly is very complicated, its a mystery really.

Jalen Mills was the worst offender. He is one of the worst players I have ever seen on defense. He cannot tackle and cannot cover. He was exploited in 2012 on Alabama's last drive as well.

It's because our LB's are DB's and are DB sized. Thank the Chief for this philosophy.

their players on def are more talented and stronger.

if they get their hands on you, you go down.

Moffitt has been getting a pass too long. All our OL look doughy and sloppy. Get them in the weight room and get them stronger and thicker, not fatter.

So Welter and Barrow are actually scared to hit Yeldon and Drake? Sad really.

I must say–and this is something I've noticed the past 2-3 years–the Bama players, but especially their linemen, seem to be bigger, faster and more physical than their opponents. Virtually wuthout exception. Forget Saban–if there's any Bama coach I'd like to have, it would be their s&c coach, he's doing a phenomenal job.

Tackling is about an attitude and mindset. You're taught the technique at your first practice in peewee. Not using that technique as a D-1 player speaks to your mindset more than you knowledge of technique. They wanted nothing to do with TJ Yeldon, it's the first time i've seen fear from an LSU defense.

Loston used to be the worst but he's actually gotten somewhat better at wrapping up.

It wasn't just against Yeldon. Our defense has been slow and soft all year.

Bama tackling was outstanding. Mosley ain't that big of a kid and he was tackling like a monster. Player developmentand tackling technique is important.

this. textbook technique from a smaller sized LB and the result was exactly what every LB coach would want.
