I just want LSU fans to realize that NYC is far from the only option. If you want a "quieter" trip just consider driving North to 1000 Islands and /or St Lawrence. You can hop the tour boat in Alexandria Bay and do some awesome sight-seeing. A lot of Southerners are completely unaware of how rural and beautiful that area is. It's a 90 mile drive at worst. LINK

And remember that Syracuse to Ottawa is only 165 miles, so you could work in an awesome daytrip to Canada's AWESOME capitol city if you wanted. You can leave early, see the sights and be back in Syracuse by bedtime.

I always love these threads because great information actually occurs. Toronto, if you have the time is also a nice city and Niagara Falls is good as well. Montreal has some similar architecture as New Orleans, but all my suggestions are more time consuming than a weekend.

Unless you have a passport or enhanced license you will not get over the boarder. Nice ballet in Niagara Falls.

I spent 8 years in Syracuse before moving to Louisiana. Anyone looking for hotels check out "Carrier Circle." Its right off the NY State Thruway and only about 15 minutes from campus. I would venture a guess the team would stay at the Sheraton which is right on Syracuse University campus.

Little known fact: Syracuse University also has a "Varsity" on campus. It's not a theatre/bar though; it's more like a bar/pizza joint.

Check out Marshall St and Crouse Avenue.

Varsity Pizza, Faegan's, Harry's, Hungry Charlies. Plenty of co-eds for you young bucks.

Closer to downtown is Armory Square.
And of course y'all would want to go to Dinosaur BBQ.

Brother lives in NYC so I'm flying up a few days early to hang with him in the city before taking the train over to Syracuse.

I worked all over upstate NY one year. Watkins Glen, Elmira, Utica & several more. Absolutely gorgeous country and the perfectly opposite image of what most folks think of as, New York. Fact is, there's more "country" than here in Louisiana. Great pizza & draft beer in some of the neighborhood taverns with some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Too bad they're outnumbered by the idiots in the population centers.

I'm going from Houston but might take train from New Orleans after Auburn game and stop in Buffalo and rent a car there to go Niagara Falls and Toronto. We are at Embassy Suites in Syracuse. May take train to NYC and fly back to NO and drive to Houston.

I've been to Cooperstown and it was a great day there. Took my time and spent several hours exploring the baseball hall of fame.

@MLewis012375 if you take 81 south for 15 miles out you can save at least 80 bucks a night on hotel fees.
