Success of the program is not just about hiring a great coach at LSU.

Here's the main concern that LSU fans should be concerned about with the search for a new coach. Tim Brando went completely off the deep end the other day, but he wasn't wrong about one thing. Joe Alleva is a puppet and it's not even close. The BOS/TAF/politics have always run things here. It wasn't until Saban came in and demanded complete control when the program was down that things changed. Amazing how that works. He demanded the same thing at Alabama and their situation is similar to ours. Skip even said that after 5 years, he really wanted Saban to stay, but he had worn on the Board/TAF. They're not used to not having all the say so. Miles came in and didn't demand what Saban did, but he also didn't care what any of them thought. This drove them crazy the entire time. There's been a 17 year period where they haven't fully run everything the way they used to and it's BY FAR been the best run in school history. It's now a given that they have their puppet in place "searching" for a new coach. If Alleva had any sense (or balls), he'd only consider a coach who demanded the same thing when it comes into meddling into the affairs of the team. We'll see from the hire "he" makes whether or not we continue the successes of the prior 2 coaches, or if we regress back into the "politics" of old and take 10 steps back. We'll see if any of them have learned to swallow their pride and realize any lessons learned from the way they helped keep the program down rather than help it over the history of the program. At this point, one can only cross their fingers.

Note: Problems with MAC. Text comes out like this regardless of spacing.

You are absolutely correct. Not sure what I can add to that, but you're spot on. Emert promised Saban no interference and he delivered. Alleva is weak. What AD distributes a letter telling us to expect offensive fireworks? I can't even begin to articulate how wrong that is on so many levels. Saban's first question during his interview was, "Why hasn't LSU won more championships"? Well...

I did. Problems with the MAC on here. Doesn't matter if I single, double, or triple space, that's how it comes out. Wasn't about to use my phone for that. Of course the message is still the same. We had better hope LSU doesn't go back to the politics of old.

Looks like there are as many hardcore Alleva/BOS/TAF/Political fans as there were hardcore Miles fans here. I'm what's for best for the program. Leaning too much either way will get a program in a world of trouble.

Well Louisiana is full of small minded people. Enjoying life is the major concern. The ones who want to control are where the problem is. If they can't be the big man on campus they find a smaller campus. The better ones move on and out.
