If stud leaves it will mean nothing for LSU, we will see the exact same plays and calling as last year

Dude Miles went to the National Championship last year without using Mett anytime significant. He would not have been fired without Mettenberger.
...
how can you possibly say Mett saved Miles' job?

I'm talking about the situation prior to last year, during the 2010 season. Crowton was on his way out, Jefferson and Lee had been rotating during the season and were the only scholarship QB's on the roster. With the following season being their last, the only QB committed at the time was Rivers, who was seen as a project. They had struck out on other QB recruits. Randall fell into their lap after signing day, but isn't really a fit at qb in this system.

At that point in time I wasn't sure he would survive without something out of the ordinary happening, i.e. a Mettenberger sitting in JUCO. It may not have been this season, who knows. Fortunately they landed him, buying time to build back depth through recruiting, which looks promising at the moment.

Then why have a position occupied by someone and pay OC salary to him if he means nothing?

What makes you say that? 2012 calls are quite different than 2011 if you bother to investigate. LSU threw 54 times more in '12.
It might not have been as successful as you, I or CLM would've liked, but it's still calling a different type game.

That is very possibly the case--however, I think LSU is capable of much better than Stud & I would hope the powers that be make Miles hire an experienced OC. I think Stud has outlived his usefulness at LSU & won't be missed by anyone except Miles, who is often too loyal to his assistants.

Surely you got something better than that if you disagree the playsheet changed.

2011's 68% R/P is the same as 2012's 60%?

You just didn't like the results.
The 54 extra pass attempts yielded only 4 more 1st downs passing than '11, and resulted in 36 fewer total 1sts, 22 less TDs, etc, etc.

If all those same blocks, routes, throws and catches are executed, LSU is undefeated in '13.

All who clamor for wide open, sling it offense, don't realize what they ask for.
The last BCS Champ to even break into the top half of FBS passing ypg was, guess who?

LSU- 58th
UF- 61st
AL- 92nd
AU- 66th
AL- 69th

AL- 85th vs ND- 75th
Safe to say the trend continues.

Malzahn was hot commodity when Arkansas State hire him, what makes you think they want Stud?
Still kills me to think he had 3 opportunities to fake the run and do something else to get a first down and end the game vs Alabama when everybody on Alabama team expected LSU to run in the middle to kill the clock.

To be fair, his QB had a penchant for throwing inopportune INTs and maybe conservative wasn't such a bad play.
The D held nicely for around 58:30 and not much reason to think they couldn't hold for another 1:30.

Can you see the screaming here if LSU had let Mett, a QB with one TD, two ints and a QB rating of 80 something in his three games before Alabama, throw and have it get picked off?

Damned if you do and damned if you don't if it doesn't work.

I agree that I would like to see a new OC, but I don't get the hate for Stud. The offense made strides with a new QB and the O-line plaed pretty damn well after a ton of injuries to key players.

Keep Stud at O-line, hire a full time OC. That's a win for everybody.

The offense sucked in 02 and 04, it sucked with booty. In fact 02 was worse than any of miles offenses. The common theme in some bad years was bad qb play.
