This has been an issue for most all games and it will continue to be an issue. It takes a team coming to death valley that LSU has a fear of losing too to get the stadium to full capacity and stay that way till the end. For example the Florida game last year was electric. This time of year it is just to hot in the stadium for all the alcohol people have in there system, concessions are expensive as all hell, the restrooms are hot as hell, the sweaty hangover occurrence, the swamp arse from sweating all day and then sitting on metal bleachers really makes the walk back to the truck a pain when you have to walk spread eagle for a mile. All in all I love being in tiger stadium but this time of year with the humidity it is just easier to sit at home drink beer and cook while sitting in a recliner watching the game in the AC. I can honestly say i stayed this past weekend till there was 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter but it was miserable.

I always complained about people leaving early but I dont disagree now especially knowing CLM is going to come out flat in the the second half and try to sit on a lead if he has one

You're spot-on about playing a team that we have a fear of losing to, which is only a handful of games per season (sometimes only 1-2). I posted this in another thread about thinning crowds:

It's a problem nationwide, but the problem is worse at LSU than other schools... Inter-connected Reasons:

1. Spoiled fanbase that has gotten "lazy" with prolonged success (I'm one of them)
2. Humid weather
3. Tailgating culture
4. Night games
5. Aging in-stadium fanbase
6. More apathetic student section than past

Yea I was shocked this weekend when i got in the stadium and it was 6 minutes till kickoff and it looked empty. I figured for the first home SEC game we would have had more fans but i am sure the fear of bad weather kept people from coming.

It look to me like we stopped playing after first half. We are lucky we held on.

There was a lightning delay in what was supposed to be pregame warm ups. That's why the stadium filled up late. People wanted the freedom to do whatever before scanning ticket just to have to wait another 45 mins because a bolt of lightning was detected in Shreveport.

Numbers 4 and 6 for me.

Night games no longer posses the magical aura they once had.

Student section is an abomination compared to that of the late 80's and early 90's.

OP is gonna get beat up, but he's spot on. He has nailed the reasons people aren't showing up or leaving early.

I stayed til the end but I could not wait to get back to some sweet AC.

That's true. LSU is a victim of their own success in the sense that the fanbase "expects" big wins against everyone except Bama and maybe 1 or 2 more SEC opponents per year.

LSU has been playing football for 100+ years. While I haven't been around for all of them, I can say with pretty good confidence that it has been hot in September for every one of those years. If you can't handle the heat and alcohol, the curb the drinking a bit. It's not like people got drunk and then all of a sudden realized it's 90+ degrees outside.

concessions are expensive as all hell

Eat before the game. Yes, cokes/water are also expensive, but if you come to the game with the plan of just eating dinner at TS then don't bitch because it cost so much. You know that going in.

the restrooms are hot as hell

It's a bathroom. How long are you hanging out in there?

the sweaty hangover occurrence

Again, I have no problem with people wanting to drink and tailgate. I do it myself. However, you know there is 3.5 hour game to be played at the end of the day. If you are worried about being hungover during the game, then be an adult pace yourself

No question. It's a mild hassle to go to a football game (parking, traffic, etc). But if you (not you personally) feel that way, why even go? All of the complaints are things you are (or should be) aware of going into the game.

The bottom line is there is a large amount of people that see game day as more of an opportunity to picnic (loiter) than actually attend a football game. For me personally, if I don't get to tailgate I don't really care. However, if I have to miss the game for some reason, I'm pretty upset. The people who stay are the ones there for the game, first and foremost. The other stuff is just extra. The ones who leave really early are the people who are probable interested in the game, but are just as interested in everything else equally as much.

Should just stop selling upper deck seating and cover them with Purple and Gold tarps stretched out. Force everyone into the bowl so at least it may appear full.

7. TV taking over the games(red hat).
8. Too many PA advertisements
9. Too many play reviews
10. Too many varying times for kickoffs.
