Anyone else worried we will have inexperience at MLB with Minter and a Freshman DT? No doubt both Freak and Minter are capable but we won't know for sure until Oregon.

I know Freak is super talented but I didn't see a depth chart that says he will be a starter over Downs or Ferguson.

Exactly what I was thinking, which is saying something about our depth at that position. DTs are going to be fine, really the only issue is MLB.

I have my concerns about Downs if he is going to start at DT. I saw him get blown off the ball quite a bit last year. I'm talking at least five yards off the line, leaving a gaping hole in the middle. Hopefully he is stronger this year and can hold up better.
Brockers is solid.
Minter doesn't concern me. I think he is going to be a beast.

The LB position concerns me as well. Huge gap left by Sheppard's departure.
Chief runs a great defense and I am sure he will address, but as I look more at TCU's defensive set and production over the last few years, it's amazing. Yes, they play a far inferior schedule than the SEC, but the results cannot be denied.
They run a 4-2-5 defense with basically 3 safetys, a strong, weak and free safety. They split the field in half and throw myriad looks, stunts and blitzes at the offense. It wreaks havoc with blocking schemes and QBs have a difficult time finding a lane, especially when they are on their arse.
If LB's struggle with the standard 4-3, maybe we will see more safety looks as TCU figured out years ago. Makes sense for us since we are incredibly deep, talented, and BIG at the position.

We run nickel all the time.

Our SLB is pretty much our extra safety.

We ought to start a rumor that the weakest part of our D is the secondary.
