Where you are signed in a round usually dictates how much you get and if being signed the first of your position also plays a part. Just from the last 3 drafts, you see there is a 13 mill difference from 3rd and 28th.

Richardson will be the last running back taken in the top 5 for a long long time. He was supposed to be an AP, once in a lifetime type back, and is looking like a bust.

exactly, and the 2nd contract is where a lot of players will be making significant $ now. Coming out a year earlier gets you 1 year closer to that and guarantees that you want get Ciron'd

Minter absolutely should have left as well, especially with him already obtaining a degree.

Most of the defenders who went pro, should have went pro with the exception of Logan and Montgomery. Montgomery may be the exception, but that has more to do with his immaturity and big mouth, which I doubt another year at LSU would have fixed.

Ware and Ford were burried on the depth chart, Wing wasn't going to be welcomed back,

My opinion, call me crazy, but OBJ is NOT NFL-ready. He should return. Yes, he's incredibly talented. Yes, if he comes out next yr he'll probably be a first round pick. But honestly? I don't see him physically ready for the pounding he'll get in the NFL.

NFL receivers don't really take poundings any more. He'll only hurt his draft stock by staying. If you're in the top 2 rounds, you go. He'll learn more in a NFL system than in college

All people see is the first contract.

But, if you aren't a top 2 round pick (maybe 3), and you get a slow start out of the gate because you are not ready, your entire career could be derailed.

It could be a very bad business decision to leave too early.

you are under the assumption that you get better development in college than the NFL

He said with Mett gone from eligibility he doesn't see how OBJ and Landry will improve their draft status.
The JennSwag jock sniffers wont like reading that statement. That implies that the Swag of Jenn will not be able to get them the ball effectively. Next years offense with this years OL, minus Mett, Hill, OBJ and Lamdry will look like Florida's does this year. Fournette is a must have recruit, especially if JH leaves.

OBJ and Landry better leave now. There stock could not get any higher. With an uncertainty coming back at QB their stock might take a hit..Pull a Rueban Randle and leave, yeah he went in the second round...but he still making millions and balling out on the professional stage.

Would you stay another year if the difference was making $1mil to 1.5mil next year as opposed to 400k this year?

Ask Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley if staying another year hurt. It gives scouts an extra year to scrutinize your game, risk of injury and players that are in financial need,,,,,400k is damn good money. I've been working 18 years and haven't come close to making 6 figures. The devastating injuries college players are getting these days. If I had a chance to be drafted and my family NEEDED the money....I'm jumping.

So your buddy thinks you can learn more about fotball and how to play in the nfl from playing in college the the nfl?

If the goal was the be the best nfl player in 2014, playing in the nfl in 2013 is the choice.

Until the NCAA puts a lid on the NFL dangling money in the face of these young players, losses like last Saturday will be repeated at LSU and across the SEC. That is unless you're Alabama.

The NFL already does too much to prevent this, at least as for as the law may be concerned. Unlike basketball who has the 1 and done rule, football has the 3 and done rule. Now, the last time it was challenged in court it won, but the time is coming and probably a lot sooner than we want where that rule will be declared illegal. You think its bad now...just wait.

Spoke to a graduate of a major SEC University [School of Engineering] yesterday after Church He graudated, believe it was around 67. I was complaining about LSU's loss, and he said money has taken over the game. I agreed. Believe he said six of the offensive lineman on this major SEC football team in his senior year stayed the full four years of their athletic scholarship and graduated with a degree in Engineering. I thought that's what these football athletic scholarships were for...to help a young man [or young woman] get a quality education at a great institution?

No, football scholarships are for people whose football abilities are so great that they can help the university win football games, which in turn helps revenue.

you think they give these 100-150 thousand dollar scholarships to these kids to be model students/scholars. These kids are brought in to win/put butts in the seats/get the big payouts from the BCS bowls and sell merchandise. You have a coach making 4.5 million dollars a year who gets a 100k bonus if these kids make a bowl,,,,while he is preaching to them to shun the money and get an education...chile please.

With this defense I could see Minter having at least 9 tackles a game and at least 2 tfl each game. I don't know if that would be an improvement, but the way he attacked the gaps he would have a lot of tackles with this years defense because he would be the only one there. IMO I think he would have improved his game staying another year.

Dudebro2, it's refreshing to see a post that actually contributes to the knowledge concerning the LSU program. One question, I thought one had to have three years of eligibility spent before one was eligible for the draft. That would exclude Hill, right?

Nope, you just need to be out of high school for three years. Hill took a year off between graduation and starting at LSU.
