les lost his last regular season game at home in 2007 for his second loss of the season and still got into the NCG with some luck .. saban also got in last year with luck and may get in this year with luck .. it takes virtually all the breaks falling your way to win world championships and national championships .. many many times, the champion isn't even really THE best team in that particular year .. look at the giants last year .. they just got hot at the right time, but needed some huge breaks to even get into the playoffs ..

Maybe his first at ASU. Two special teams TD's and a 4th and 10 TD all in the 4th.

But I don't even believe that. I was just throwing it out there. I don't really believe there are that many "lucky" wins period.

I can think of OSU in 2004, UK 2002, and a couple from the 90's when we sucked.

Maybe Moo St. a few years ago?

The clock management, t-bob hiking, JJ lost in space, extra play, Steven Ridley TD ... fiasco of an embarassing victory .... that was lucky.

Tigahrag that is why we need a playoff. This thing of polls and voters deciding is or I should say a thing of the past. Let the decision of who plays for all the marbles be decided on the field. Now I know that someone will be left out but at least it won't be computers or sometimes biased voters who decide who plays.

Totally forgot about that. I knew there were others.

Thsi really isn't that difficult of a question. All coaches have lucky wins, just not as many as people think.

I would disagree with anything but a +1. I haven't seen anything that would lead me to belive that more than 4 teams a year are worthy of playing for the National Championship. In fact, more often than not it is only 2.

100% spot on. there is no college football team that's gonna just bowl over every team on their schedule, esp in teh SEC. yes, some, damn few, go undefeated but there is always one or two games they were flat out lucky as hell.

As evidenced by ND this year. Lucky as all hell.

I will give them credit for the OU blow-out on the road.

Pitt had their asses beat and pissed it away.

Saban's getting into the NCG last year had absolutely NOTHING to do with luck. It was Saban's whines, Herbstreit' knob polishing , ESPN's ditto,Voter's willing to give up integrity to vote a team down.

Question. If either KS or Ore. had not lost, and Bama was at #3, could it not be argued that Bama passed the eye-test and should be in the NC/
Basically that's what happened last year.

Yep that JJ/T-Bob/12 men on the field game was pretty lucky. Is that all we can come up with? Pretty sure there are more than that huh?

Who cares. If Bama wins out, Saban will have four NC's, Miles will have one. That's all that matters. Winning championships on the field is what counts, not amateur post-hoc analysis and excuses. Had we beaten Bama in New Orleans last season, we would have a title. Had we beaten Bama in Tiger Stadium this season, we'd be in the pole position for another title opportunity. We did neither.

first of all team was voted down? Next, all of that is meaningless is Ok State beats Iowa, that's the lucky part people don't realize, they just want to jump in with 21-0 as the ultimate trump card.

Bama last year was just as lucky if not luckier than LSU '07. At least the Tigers had to play and not sit home and watch the goings on as Bama '11

Oklahoma State, after shellacking former #1 Oklahoma by 5 touchdowns, and winning the Big 12 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, was "voted down."

How ????? A faction of BCS Human Poll Voters and Coaches voted 11-1 Oklahoma State FIFTH OR SIXTH. Let me repeat that so it gets ingrained into your conscience - FIFTH OR SIXTH.
In essence, the """"""""""ONLY"""""""""""" reason Alabama played in the Dom on Jan. 9 is because of this faction of IDIOT MONUMENETALLY BIASED UNINFORMED A-HOLES who voted Oklahoma State, who was a vaginal hair behind Alabama in the BCS ratings, and who was told, if they crush Oklahoma, would be in the big game - FIFTH OR SIXTH.

That's it in a nutshell..........

If you were a Tennessee fan you would be saying the Vols lost because of Dooley being stupid.
