Special teams. Early on most surprising stat yet.

"The biggest surprise of all is seeing LSU No. 1 in the conference in kickoff returns, holding opponents to just 14 yards a return. It’s early, but that is quite the turnaround from where this team was last year. Mississippi State has not broken a big return yet, but Brandon Holloway is capable of making a big play."

Probably average about 14 yards a punt too

When you're kicking the ball out of bounds and shanking punts, no there won't be a lot of return yardage.

I bet we lead the conference in kickoffs kicked out of bounds at this point too. We will probably lead this category by 5 by the time the season ends.

and not kicking off often

What is the ranking of opponent starting field position after kickoffs?
That is the real stat.

With 1 kickoff out of bounds.

94th in Kickoffs in the country currently
111th in touchback %.
1 of 37 teams out of 120+ that have kicked it out of bounds so far.
We have allowed 0 long kickoff returns (30+ yards) however and are 8th in opponent average kickoff return distance (because they get it further up the field most likely).

good thing this board is anonymous or the BDP haters would burn your house down.
many people on here make a one time judgement and then refuse to open their mind to improvement from then on. and others simply carry a prejudice and are closed minded on facts.
our special team played really good Saturday. for the first time since '14, they busted arse downfield and made strong tackles.
I have stated this since late last year (when they turned it around) and the best replys I have gotten were weak; most just mocked or ignored. good luck.
