Sadly no, this is not the 1st time that mickey mouse shite has been torn up in a storm.

Wind load is the reason the batter's eye is what it is. A permanent structure there would require a deep foundation to handle the wind loads.

i thought they said something about that area being built on what was a "natural pond" when it was a golf course? and either the deep foundation couldn't be done....or it was too expensive?

I find it hard to believe we can't afford to drive a few posts deep enough into the ground to support a wall. We're not building the Burj Dubai here.

What I think he's saying is we invested >$40M in a stadium that can't be permanently expanded in the outfield. This was all done to have a view of Tiger Stadium in dead center. Unfortunately that view is now partially blocked by a trash bag batters eye because they can't go deep enough to set footings for something nicer.

yeah, i do buy that they can't afford it. I can see them "not wanting" to spend the money.

But, that was the explanation we got when we asked about the concrete area behind the scoreboard that always floods. something about being built on a natural pond and it keeps sinking.

either way, $40m on a stadium and leaving the batter's eye the way it is just seems wrong.
