lsu's athletic budget is in the top 4 of the sec. financially, there is no reason why lsu can't get a coach near the caliber of donovan. not doing so only indicates the level of commitment the dept has to winning in basketball. in fact, lsu's budget would be the highest in the acc.
jones was making ~$200. does that reflect the quality lsu should be seeking given the budget of lsu and other comparable schools?
it has nothing to do with tradition and everything to do with monetary commitment.
obviously, dale and collis meddled but, if alleva was shopping with the appropriate $, there's no way the bbq club could justify jones over an appropriate candidate. it would look plain silly.

LSU is only a few schools with an Athletic Department as a whole in the black with no state support. I think 2-5 total? (someone?)
