T-Bob should have gotten a penalty for slamming his helmet on the ground. Well I was at the game. Do any of you remember the Tennessee player doing about 10 back flips after Jordan fell on the ball. Wouldn’t that be a penalty also

Offsetting penalties wouldn't have helped.

K but we would have had one and they would have had two. Would the game have ended with out another play?

Yeah, offsetting penalties do not extend the game.

That's stupid. He thought the game was over and so did everyone else. Is waving a big-azz orange Tennessee flag on the field not a penalty either? Cause I think I saw the Tennessee players doing that? Or Dooley dry humping one of his players and laughing hysterically on the field?

The refs did not do a good enough job of letting people know there was a potential penalty. They threw the flag...were they supposed to even review it before calling it??? I mean, it was either more than 11 or it wasn't. It's not a judgment call.

Also, Mount Cody for Bama threw his helmet in the air after they blocked Tennessee's field goal last year to win it and the refs hadn't even blew the whistle on the play yet. They didn't call anything on him. And I wouldn't ruin a game at the end by flagging that unless the helmet toss really impacted the play.

That's stupid...but I will add that it was dumb for T-Bob to be take his helmet off that fast and throw it. Hell, the ball hadn't even been recovered yet. Then again, half of Tennessee's bench was already on the field before he even took it off.

Those offsetting penalties were after the play (dead ball fouls). That wouldn't have changed anything. They still would have gotten the 13 men on the field call. The dead ball fouls would have been enforced after (and they would offset).

Watch the replay folks!!!!

The clock had expired and showed 0:00 before he removed his helmet.

The point is MOOT

Sportmanship aside, the game was over and there was no chance of a penalty on him for throwing his helmet.

But the play was still ongoing.

But as I said in the other thread - even though it was a mistake losing his cool like that, T-Bob earned the right to make that mistake. Thank God he wasn't flagged for it.
