So why is taunting considered so bad in CFB and the NFL?

How often do you taunt somebody in your daily life? your coworkers, employee at a rival company, your spouse, someone you compete against in anything, always are being taunted. Then for some reason in these sports organizations it's considered such a terrible thing? taunting is like offensive holding, can be called on every play. a lot of times all you accomplish by taunting the other team is get them fired up. then you have to back up your talk. why is this such a terrible thing? in like the case of reggie bush in the 2006 NFCCG, all he did was light a fire under the bears asses. urlacher claims they were done and going to lose, then bush taunts them and fires them up and they crush the saints. what was so bad about that taunt in the moment? IF its so bad then there should be penalties on every play in any sport b/c someone is always trash-talking and trash-talking is taunting. Anti-taunting is complete bullshite and should be done away with. You don't wanna get taunted, don't get beat.

Amateurism. No one cares if you brag about your work on your job.

Only reason I can think of is because taunting in football tends to lead to a much higher incidence rate of physical violence as a result.

When's the last time you taunted a co-worker and it caused a cubicle-clearing brawl?

I, however, disagree with taunting restrictions in football.

Face it, it's a black-white thing.

We can't have "those people" taking over our game.

probably so, but if you have to fight someone for taunting you, you probably don't play all that much b/c it happens all the damned time.

I'm sure this used to be a bigger reason then it is now. I just think they don't want to change many rules in CFB.

Meh, the two biggest calls of unsportsmanlike conduct I've seen was a white punter today and Jake Locker vs BYU.

Not very often but I will probably get an unsportsmanlike penalty when I see Gator and Buckeye fans at work Tuesday.

A taunting flag should never be able to erase a TD. If on a scoring play then it should be tacked on the kickoff. If during a regular play then it should be tacked on from the current down.

I'm actually fine with restricting taunting but for frick's sake, who the hell is defining taunting for the NCAA, the Amish?

I mean hell, if it's going to be this hard to come up with a rule that defines taunting and can be applied by refs in the way that NORMAL people would call it taunting, then just allow ALL taunting again for chrissakes.
