So why are you there?

Regarding all the bitching about LSU opponents: Why are you there?
Why do you come to Tiger Stadium?
I'll answer first.
I'm there because LSU is playing a football game.
I don't care who they are playing. I'm not there to see Alabama, Florida or East Nebraska School for Wayward Girls.
LSU is playing.
I'm not there to socialize although I do that.
LSU is playing football.
I'm not there to tailgate althought I do that.
LSU is playing football.
I'm not there to bitch about traffic, I expect that it's going to be FUBAR.
LSU is playing a game.
I' dont care if it's a little hot or cold.
LSU is playing a game.
There was a time when I couldn't attend and there will come a time when I won't be able to attend, so I am gong to take advantage of these relative times to see LSU play a game.
I'm there to see LSU play football.

I agree with all of this, but I do care who they're playing. I'd much rather a team with a pulse than Sam Houston St. Will I still go regardless? Of course, I'm a fan, but would I prefer there to be a better team on the schedule? Absolutely.

Living out of state, I pick 2 'decent' games to attend but save the big one for the TV because I want to actually focus on the game and have replay and solid viewing. For example, this season, I'll come in for MSU and Ole Miss. Skipping the Wisc game in Houston and Bama bec I want to see those on TV (live not DVRd). And no, I have no desire to travel back and forth to see Sam Houston St or Monroe. I'll watch those on TV.
I come to hang out with friends, play golf, enjoy the atmosphere of campus and be in the Stadium to soak it all in. But honestly..if we are talking about purely watching the Tigers play, I'd rather watch it from my big leather chair and in HD with A/C and ability to pause and the game and rewind certain parts. Sorry not sorry. And by the way, I'm an alum.

i agree with the spirit of your post, but your logic is flawed. it isn't petty or out of line to complain about home game opponents in the same way that it isn't petty or out of line to complain about having to pay for tv channels you don't want. the fact is that, in order to keep season tickets in the same seats, you have to buy them every year and you will most likely not get the same seats back if you skip a year. season ticket cost is paid up front, no matter who the opponents are and the customer has no input on the quality control of the opponents (hence the bitching). i think the home schedule is lame this year, but i'm still going to go to the games and stay until the clock hits zero. it just worked out poorly for the home schedule this year.
