If you don’t care about WBB, fine, ignore this post, but for those of us that care and have seen a 5 year final four fade to a mediocre (at best) SEC team, where do Joe and Co. go here?

My best unbiased pros and cons, saintsfan et al please add your expertise. In the end, I feel she should go if we do not at least get to round 2 in NCAA this year…however

Pros- She has taken us to two sweet 16’s, has a very solid class coming in next year and did change her assistants in the past few years. I think even her critics view NCF as a very good x’s and o’s coach and she did bring in great enthusiasm her first few years.

On the other side, she is under .500 all time in SEC and this is the post TN SEC where teams with MUCH less history and resources than LSU (like UK, Miss St) have passed us by. She should be improving at this time and last year was terrible and year before was poor. This year thanks to a solid RPI (38) we may make NCAA’s even though we are 7-8 right now (terrible Vandy team here for last game). Many say she is lazy as a recruiter and let’s face it the energy in the program is very low. What will she do next year if she stays- it’s not like we will ever win SEC with her (never been close) and does she “want” it-it appears to me not. Geno’s comments about how far LSU has fallen were to me the dagger…it hurt, but was true. It's not about $700k, that is what a top SEC coach and program has to pay...

Still, who do we hire? She is young, smart and again has a solid staff now, but can she get us back to top 15 even? I don’t see it…and no matter what your view, WBB is in the top 4-5 of any major D1 program....

They're going to have to deal with the men side so I think she gets a pass just because of that at least for 1 year. I highly doubt JA wants to be looking for both men and women basketball coaches at the same time.

Another year, team is better.
Demoss hire has helped.

That would make Alleva look bad if he has to fire two hoops coaches in one year.

LSU women's basketball is another example of federal policy resulting in a gross waste of resources.

In what world is that worth $4M?

Pay the coach 50K. Give the girls scholarships. Pay the power bill at the PMAC for practice and games. You are only in it for 100K and no one would know the difference.

You need to look up what college scholarships are worth.

There is an "up tick" there. Good recruiting class coming in...

But I did see Kalani Brown put 33 on Texas the other night. Oh well...

Probably but if we lose to Vandy it's danger time. Last night's finish was truly pathetic but Auburn has a high RPI so it shouldn't hurt too much. We should be at least 3 games better with last night, A&M, and Vandy losses.

Yeah. They've improved and she has a good class coming in. Also I doubt she would be gone anyway with turnover in football and likely men's basketball.

And Fargas missed out on a point guard in state to. Think she signed with Baylor also.

Her recruiting has been rocky. Remember the 6-4 girl from Texas who decided to be a model and left? Last year she had 2 of her top players out for the year. And she signed a 6-5 post player and another 6-6 post player. But she loses the 6-5 star to injury(that again) and the 6-6 girl is a project. Include all those transfers who have to sit out a year and you have an inconsistent team. I wonder now that the next class is going to be good, which one will come down with an injury? Someone needs more vetting I guess. I just don't know.

Urisin at Destrehan ... she's awesome. Going to a Baylor. Team is unbeaten and she's all American. LSU didn't show up to even try recruiting her.

Throw the checkbook at Kim Mulkey. She might be ready to come home. I guarantee you if the women started winning like they did under Pokey with Mulkey at the helm, you would not be able to get tickets.

LSU fans are hungry for winners whatever the sport.

I loved the Demoss hire too, but getting healthier has also been key. Still, the team is again missing its best shooter in Deemer and inside the #1 2016 recruit will miss the year. Get Baylor out of LSU's backyard would be my one criticism. But she's been able to hit Georgia (Mitchell/Aifuwa) in recent years and find transfers that have been major contributors
(Hyder/Jackson). She has signed a top 20 recruit from NJ and a 4star pg from GA (again!) for 2017. I think she's a good recruiter and a coach. They righted the program this year. Maybe the breakthrough comes next year. Moncrief, Jackson, & Mitchell are back. If Deemer is back that's a good core. If Aifuwa is back they'll have two + 6'3"to get healthy and contribute. And look how hard the kids play. Compare to the men.

I think Fargas has earned at least another year. LY, didn't LSU lose 3, 4 starters to season-ending injury? I wouldn't hold that 3-13 SEC mark against her. This season just being healthier has been huge. They have righted the ship despite the loss again of Jenna Deemer, the team's best shooter, and Aifuwa, an athletic big LSU lacks vs bigger teams. Fargas signed for 2017 another big, a 6'3" top-20 (5-star) recruit from NJ and a 4-star pg (top 70). The transfers (Hyder & Jackson) she has brought in have been major contrbutors. And she has gone international to get players. So, I think recruiting is ok. Baylor in the backyard recently is a nuisance though. Fargas has shown herself able to maximize the talent on her roster. That's good coaching. There is no doubt the kids play hard. If they make the NCAAS this year that's 5 Tourney bids with 2 Sweet 16s in 6 years. And next year, Moncrief, Jackson and Mitchell are all back to anchor the team. If the injured players are contributors they figure to take another step. WBB is headed in the right direction and maybe on the verge of a breakthrough.

I will be honest, I'm not the biggest Nikki fan, I really would have expected more but this season alone doesn't deserve firing her. I am excited about the class we signed.

My only thing is, for us to reach an elite level we HAVE to have good class for YEARS in a row. Not have two shitty ones then have a good one. I'm very dissapointed that we already lost the best player in the state for this coming year, losing Kourtney Webber an elite player out of Nola to FSU. We were in the mix but her comments about our coaching staff is kinda concerning. We better have some back up plans for this coming class, still long ways away but this next class is critical!
