So the WSJ valued LSU football as a $910 million "franchise"...
Posted by phantom70815 on 10/4/17 at 7:38 pm191
That is serious dollars there, my friends. An institution valued at nearly $1 billion is being run by the worst athletic director in all of the Power 5 conferences. Makes perfect sense, right?
Here is a suggestion. With the football team being valued so high, LSU should create a new position- Director of Football Operations. Someone who knows football inside and out, and can focus and concentrate exclusively on football.
Don't get me wrong, Alleva still must be fired. The new AD would be over all of the other sports, just not football. The football "franchise" is too valuable to have an individual spread himself too thin by worrying about all of the other sports.
That being said, I think that Chris Landry would be ideal in this position. He's got very strong LSU ties, and has been in football administration in both college and pro for over 30 years. He is an expert in the field, and his football acumen is unparalleled. Any thoughts?

The ineptitude of upper leadership at LSU should come as no surprise. Look at our state and you see the similarities.

This is why you can NOT lose to Troy. EVER. This is why you can not let MSU beat you by 30.
This is why the LSU head coaching job SHOULD BE a destination job.

State is poor.
We should sell LSU football to New York.

$12 million is only .013% of $910 million. When you look at it in those terms, $12 is minuscule. Quite frankly, you can't afford NOT to fire him. If you don't, that value of $910 million will start to drop astronomically. You have to protect your investment.

Yep. Invest in winning & recruiting---tolerate no one who pushes accountability out the window.

Might be the best idea I've seen posted here. I'd amend and make individual director over the top 3 sports that generate revenue. Have a much less significant "Athletic Director" for the other sports.
