Yea Bear knew his coaching days were over when LSU finally beat him after 10 years straight of him kicking their arse. Is that really a testament to LSU?

Bear Bryant 16-4 against LSU while at Bama
Steve Spurrier 11-2 against LSU while at Florida.

Bear fricking owned LSU. Spurrier did for a decade too.

What does that have to do with the way things ended for these coaches? Do you think Spurrier was already planning to announce his retirement after the LSU game?

I'll mention another situation, too. In 2001, Tennessee was looking at winning the SECCG and going to play Miami for the national title. But behind Matt Mauck and a back-up RB whose name escapes me, LSU upset the Vols and knocked them out of playing for a national title.

Philip Fulmer and Tennessee never recovered from that loss.

You honestly think a loss to LSU would make a coach say "I quit." Y'all give LSU fans a bad name. Sorry to disappoint you, LSU isn't THAT powerful.

Bear even said many times that LSU "beat our arse" in '82...

How many times did he say that, I wonder......considering that LSU beat them on November 6, and he died the following January 26.

Then answer my question. Do you think Spurrier was planning to announce his retirement THIS WEEK even BEFORE the LSU game?

You think maybe Spurrier saw LSU's talent, and realized that his team faced a long rebuilding project? Longer than he wanted to be a part of?

Obviously.

LSU game had nothing to do with the fact that he wanted to retire. I don't think he saw Fournette and said, "oh no, I'm scared...better run now." That's beyond ridiculous.

So you think he said to himself "the state university I represent as a football coach has just suffered devastating flooding and loss of life, as the only coach they've ever had who is worth a damn, I think I'll add my resignation to the things for the people of South Carolina to be sad about." ???

I mean, I hate Spurrier just as much as the next guy, but even I don't think he's that evil.
