Looking like the starting 5 at least will be top 4 talent.

But do we have the coach to not screw it up?

So we should fire him if we fail to make the tourney this year?

Of course not, but we'll know he can't coach worth a damn and will not win a championship here.

If JJ can't make some serious noise in the tourney next year, then you ditch him.

Everyone keeps comparing him to Dale. Dale seems like his best coaching was when he had less talented teams.

JJ hasn't looked like a good coach when he had less talent. So Dale shits on JJ's coaching as far as im concerned.

Jones won't be going anywhere until Simmons is in the NBA.

you do realize that LSU has been in 3 final 4s...in it's history right? and never in the championship game. Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, etc have pulled in classes like this one multiple times and not won a 'ship.

Having said that if LSU doesn't make a run this year or next, his seat will get very warm.

He has better job security than Coach K and Calipari until Simmons leaves. He can lose every SEC game and he's not getting fired this year.

I don't know enough about Simmons to post what his intentions are, but I'm fairly sure he's not in desperate need to cash a paycheck immediately. He possibly could stick around because he wants to, if his stock takes a hit during his freshman year, if he gets injured, etc. All those guys came back to UF to play together and make another run so it's not out of the realm of possibility that Simmons could be more than a one and done guy.

Can someone remind me . . . who brought in all of that talent?

That's kind of one of the problems this season. The team is 5 maybe 6 deep.

Gray turns the ball over way too much to be a starting PG in the SEC. He isn't even in the top 250 players in the nation when it comes to Assit/TO ratio.

According to ESPN, LSU is tied for 321st in turnovers per game. They are also tied for 123rd in Ast/TO ratio.

He may not be in desparate "need" to cash seven figure paychecks, but I'm sure it would be nice to do so as soon as possible.

None of those guys at UF were projected as the possible Number 1 overall pick. Baring something completely unforeseen, Simmons will be at LSU one year. It's up to Jones and his staff to see if they can have team success in that one year.

If they can't even make the NCAAT next year, then it will be time to cut bait on Jones and avoid 2,3,4 more years of languishing in perpetual mediocrity

That's unreal expectations
