So Coach O was just the means to a $100K/year paycheck for D Ponamsky?

Derek Ponamsky joined the LSU football staff in September 2016 as Special Assistant to Head Coach Ed Orgeron.
Ponamsky's primary responsibilities include assisting Orgeron in the day to day organization and operation of his schedule as well as serving as the liaison to the administration on academics.

Does any other top program even have such a 'Special Assistant to the Head Coach' position on staff? Is this like a 'Chief of Staff' role?
Why does Coach O see the need to have Ponamsky on staff? Did Miles have someone like this on his staff? So many questions...

Gotta be honest, this sounds like a job suited for this chick...

pretty sure Miles had the same position, just maybe a different title. was one of the first firings after Les and Cam were let go.

every coach has someone in a similar position.
typically when a coach leaves, you'll hear reports that some assistants were gone as well.
and usually there is a name on the list that makes everyone ask "who?"
i don't remember the guy's name, but someone in that role was fired with Miles and Cam.
now typically, they don't make a huge announcement during the introductory press conference about it.
or make him as prominent a figure as O has with fat boy.

Most coaches do, but they're usually someone that knows football. Miles had Dean Dingman, a former Michigan O-Lineman.
Ponamsky offers nothing, except maybe some knowledge gained as an Agent Runner as a college student.

They're probably stealing all the good silverware.

Les had Dean. It's common

I don't blame him. Beats that check from 104.5 I bet. Plus the perks probably aren't bad. Anyone here saying that they wouldn't think about taking that job is lying.
ETA: Matter of fact, DP if you're listening, I'll be your assistant for 50K

No, Alleva just ran out of options. When he praised O for his binder you could see in his body language that he was full of shite.

Yeah it's a bag man type job. Most major/if not all programs have'em. Don't know about 100K though.

Hate O if you like, at this point it is deserved. But shoveling bullshite to support your viewpoint weakens your argument imho.
