Maybe he's better in a smaller school like North Florida as HC or as a top assistant in a big-time program vs being the head guy a large program?

He did get LSU to two college World Series. Most college coaches could only dream of that.

Yep he had NLU 1st in the sunbelt and beat LSU in a midweek game. I'll say it again though "Smoke ain't Skip"!!

So how did it go down with smoke?
He was pretty stout as a coach.
With the amount of programs that now have head coaches who had previous assistant coaching experience at the lsu's cal state fullertons of the world, lsu will never be the juggernaut it once was.

I think Smoke is a hell of a baseball coach but couldn't handle a program this size alone like it takes. He used the LSU reputation to recruit and got us to Omaha a few times. Towards the end he almost killed the program though.

I know that but they aren't gonna win 2 ncws for every 4 years like the posters on the rant.
