Bottom line is our defense is in the NFL right now and Mett had a bad game. People don't understand how much our success so far has depended on Mett's success.

Across all levels of football this is true: offensive performance measured on a per game basis is more volatile than defensive performance on a per game basis. That is why "defense wins championships".

Defense doesn't rely on the performance of one player as much as the offensive relies on the one player- the QB..another way to put it.

Similar concept in finance- don't put your eggs in one basket, or one stock. Diverify and spread out risk with a mutual fund. Individual stocks are much more risky than a mutual fund.

I look dforward to us getting back to relying on our D not O.

FSU had one less defensive draft pick. How would you explain holding Clemson to 7 points?

I hope these are not days gone by...Because we really couldn't depend on them last season.

We had different players drafted than them?

What you just tried to argue is that all drafted players are created equal.

OP, hate to break it to you, but, your post is not as "smart" you think it is.

You presume much with your "Educate yourself" comment, and it seems incongruous alongside your pedestrian comments.

You cannot argue against my post. All you can say is that it is a bold title thread.

The thread title is meant to be get attention so that hacks like you will read, and frankly, be educated. Sick of people posting on here about Les' timeout or other smaller things.

link? Or are you just mindlessly regurgitating a stupid adage that originated far before the modern passing game?

Did you not read what I wrote?

I never said I had a problem with passing. Reread it. Maybe make flash cards or something. It isn't that hard to understand.

With crappy line play and receivers who can't catch or block, no QB in country will succeed.

In other words, the offense relies on great QB play, but the QB relies on great play from everyone else. Playing o is definitely not just a one man show.

I know exactly what you wrote. I'm calling you out for your stupid comment that defense wins championships. That might have been true before the passing game became what it is today. Defense is no longer more important in winning championships than offense.

Just because some dolts on ESPN say "defense wins championships" doesn't mean its true.

what did we do last year with all this NFL talent?
Lost 3 games because D could not hold a lead, just like this year.

That is true in Georgia's case. Murray has no one to help him with everyone hurt.

Not in LSU's case. We have lots of talent surrounding Mett- Hill, Landry, OBJ3...Mett just threw three picks, this did not allow the offense to continue the drive and utilize those talented wide receivers and running backs.

When Rueben Randle complained about not getting the ball enough in the BCSNC, the answer was because the qb (jefferson) was too busy giving the ball away. If you can't sustain a drive because of turnovers, then nobody get utilized. Each play starts with the quarterback, if he messes it up the other talent doesn't matter. This is not the case with defense. They play more as a unit, the same player doesn't have to start the play everytime and be heavily relied on otherwise the other talent in the unit is naught. Therefore the defense is more consistent. If one guy is having an off game the defense won't collapse as much as an offense would when the qb is having a bad game.
